Oooo nice Vaer watch. How do you like it?

It's only days old, so way too early to roll the dice.

First impressions are quite good. I don't have the beefiest wrists, so a 40mm can be hit or miss. Especially field watches, that tend to have longer lugs than e.g. divers.
This one have fairly short lugs and they curve well, so the fit looks and feel right. That's kind of critical, so everything else can be considered bonus.

I went with the solar quartz. I have a two other solar powered watches and there's no denying the practicality of "never" having to replace the battery.
Non of the other two were field watches, and being a style of watch I quite like, I wanted to experience the same convenience in a field watch.
It's too early to say I regret that choice, but it comes with a couple of caveats:
  • Thickness. OK, it's not thick and the regular quartz version isn't a lot thinner. But on watches every millimeter counts and it's at least something to consider before paying more for the thicker watch.
  • The added thickness probably stems from a thicker dial, which houses the solar cells. This causes the date wheel to sit very low compared to the surface of the dial and makes the date harder to read. This is not at all an issue on my Citizen solar powered analogue watch, so it wasn't something I had even considered.

I already have too many watches, so as weird as it may seem - my intention with this watch was to end up with fewer watches :dwts:
It has a range of features and attributes that I like, but that my earlier watches haven't been able to combine in one watch.
So if this one lives up to my expectations I'm hoping it'll replace 3-4 watches that I can sell off.

Some folks think the Armitron Automatic isn't all that special, and frankly I just can't see why.  I love the skeletonized face and clear case back.

And what better time to break this out than Christmas?   :D

It is much cooler in person, where you can see everything inside whizzing around, doing it's job.   :D

Skeletons can be hit or miss but yours is done right, in my opinion. :tu:

I should know, I have one, too! Great handy knife, too bad it's long-discontinued and I see used ones going for twice as much as I paid for a new one.  :sa:

Pelagos again for New years eve. It's become my favorite, but this will be the last day in a while as it's getting a well deserved break  through black out January.

Happy new year folks!

Really enjoying this Seiko Prospex Speedtimer.  One of 4000 - not as limited as the other two versions of the X Datsun crossover but this one is really comfortable and I'm digging the solar charging.

It looks damn cool with the BullBars. Casio USA's site didn't show this model with them, so I gotta ask: is that an aftermarket addition, and if so, do you have a link?

Yeah, the bull bars are aftermarket.  I'll not pop a link in as I got mine from a UK seller, but any bullbar that will fit a 5600/5610 G-Shock will fit the W-218H. There should be a bunch on ebay or AliExpress.

For completeness sake I removed the resin strap and replaced it with a nylon one.

I may be a bit biased as green is one of my favorite colors, but I really like that one.
