Day 11

Plenty to do today. Received a new SAK and the can opener on the Pioneer helped to move the lanyard from the Forester to the Atlas.

Classic cut a t-shirt tag that drove me crazy.

Awl helped to loosen a knot.

Started some renovations in the guest bedroom today:

MP400 helped to disassemble a desk. However, I had to switch to a dedicated screwdriver, because it wasn't able to reach some recessed screws.

It also helped to remove picture hangers and nails.

I had to switch to locking pliers later when I tried to remove a mounting bracket for a roller blind. the MP400 didn't have enough grip to handle it.

The can opener got used to open up the box containing our Christmas wreath:

Later, the 58 opened up a box containing a 74. (Back up Executive....definitely want to have one on hand for the Dec 2021 Chuck Yeager challenge...and they won't keep making new ones....)

This snap is for McStitchy....taken during light snow...that later turned to moderate snow.....

In a previous post I said "Tevas". Uhhhhh....ooops ....Keens. I wear these things year round, wear them hiking, wear them fishing...in streams and rivers.  I do have a pair of Chaco sandals, too....but they are not wool sock compatible.

What I don't have (anymore) is a pair of Tevas.......

Definitely punch above their weight the 78’s, will look forward to the challenge

Some excellent use, my Christmas display is beyond pathetic

Big fan of keens too, have some sandals I used to wear a lot but because I have to wear orthotics have switched to their shoes, always good

Some light trimming with the Sidekick's saw.  Leatherman saws work very well in my humble opinion.

I know some people dislike the SAK combo tool, but today just reaffirmed for me how much I like it.  But the irony is that I was using it for things that it isn’t designed to do.  I used the combo tool (modded with a sharpened corner) to open then break down a couple boxes.  I used the combo tool tool’s wire stripper as a striker for the FireFly to light some tinder as a test.  I also used it to peel an orange and remove the plastic tamper seal on a protein shake.  These were all unadvertised uses, but ones the combo tool did well.

Day 12

I had repaired my sandals a long time ago, and the line had become too loose. So I had to untie the tiny friendship knot, tighten the line, and retie it.

Hello day  11.
An oil top up for the Landy.
Screwdriver to loosen the oil filler cap.
Nice pics from the team especially the end of meeting pic. I think we need to do that more often.

Imgur has me blocked out due to inadequate capacity........

It might be working again the next day.

Alternatively I'm using a photo app in my phone to scale down the resolution so it's under 521kb in size and just attach them to the post.

It can be a pain to pull some of them out, but at least then you know they’re doing their job.  I hate the covers that are so loose that they almost fall out, because then you have to wonder if they will even keeping any dirt or water out.

I totally agree with you  ;)

Can openers are so versatile.
On a Leatherman MT I like the old claw shape style the most. Even better with wire stripper.
On a Victorinox I like the... well... Vic style one.
Each style compliments the toolset very well I think.

Good to have a spare 74mm. Shame if they're being discontinued  :-\

Your Keens look great  :tu:
I guess the key for wearing sandals in winter is having the right socks?

Despite having proper hiking shoes. Yes, I know  ::)
The missus doesn't like it but got used to it.
I'm just jumping, running, climbing around too much.
I feel that sandals can easily get caught on a branch, rock edge etc. so I dismissed them for hikes in the past.

I am sure it could open boxes just fine and am surprised to see how it could be sharp enough to even break down boxes!  That's pretty cool use!

I'm just pulling this out of my old brain but I think in the 80's the Defender was equipped with a v8 petrol that was a Jaguar engine with a modified camshaft (reduced power but more reliability).
 :dunno:

I might be totally wrong here though.

Indeed there has been V8 Landies. Engine used was the legendary Rover V8 (originally a GM design that Rover bought rights to).
This great engine debuted in Range Rover and later in Land Rovers.
In Landie the internals were the same than in Range, there was a restriction plate to keep power done, if memory serves that is.
At the end of the day (Lara Croft special etc.) power was kept down by engine mapping, having moved on from those lovely carbs into boring fuel injection... ;)

No Jag V8 (Aj-8 is the 1st and only Jag V8 and that was born in '97 or so) in Land Rovers (well in Bowler Wildcats but those are a different story).

Day 12:
I used the Mac-multitool in my edc-kit to cut thru some film covering washer fluid for the Kadjar.
Whilst I was outside happily doing that and checking oil and fluids on the GMT400 wifey pulled out my Swiss Tool to pry out some furniture nails. Now, this should've been a job for the Guppie but since I had no part of this I don't think my kit failed me (the prpb. of not having included a flash light has been reported earlier ;) )

Wool socks are almost awl I ever wear. Year round. But definitely a good idea for Winter sandal wear--think "mittens".   :D

I have had the toe of a sandal catch on a branch. That's less likely with these closed toe designs, but I've still managed to get myself poked in the foot by a branch. I do try to be a bit more careful about where I stick my feet when wearing sandals.

And in rattlesnake country.....boots start to look like a really good idea, too.  :o
