Great pics and uses gents!

Day 6

Happy orthodox Christmas btw

Finally had some action today.

Here’s the story. Quite some time ago my lady’s car keying attachment started to fall apart. I tried glueing it with super glue but it lasted only for a few days before falling apart again.

Further examination uncovered that the bottom part was actually made of copper, so I put this task on hold before my lady brought me a Dremel Versatip gas soldering iron as a New Year’s gift .

(Image removed from quote.)

Tip: it is sold without the gas so you’ll have to buy that separately.
As you probably guessed it neither of us knew that so I ordered some butane gas and today it finally arrived and at last I had a chance to use it.

The idea was to put some tin into the bottom part of the keychain, then put the cover, hold it tight and heat until the tin gets melted and solders parts in place.

So first I used pliers to cut tin pieces
(Image removed from quote.)

Then I fired up the soldering iron...
(Image removed from quote.)

...and here’s the result before cleaning
(Image removed from quote.)

After wiping the keychain with toothpaste it turned out pretty well and passed a drop test
(Image removed from quote.)

Bonus: while I was busy with the above my lady asked me to open a can of homemade pickled shrooms we’ve gathered a few months before
(Image removed from quote.)

Great job :salute:

Day 6

(Image removed from quote.)

Used the blade to cut open packages and lemon in the morning, and within the package, there is the new Mora Eldris Light Duty.  I haven't used the blade(since we are in a challenge), but I suspect it's much better than the compound grind they had for the original.  The Eldris is a pretty cool idea, and I only wish Mora would come out of a version half the girth and even lighter, so it is easier in the pocket.

Can you show more pics of the Mora?  I have a cheap Mora blade, I like it for what it is.  I haven't heard of the The Elders Light Duty yet/

I wish Outrider with Phillips vs. corkscrew would be more common outside of the Malaysian military model. You have #1 inline Phillips, so you might as well have a #2 without adding an extra layer.

Day 7; opened up a feed sack. Worked good with these thick, and somewhat oversize insulated gloves.

@Cody - I hadn't noticed before since I don't have one, but I take it from your comment regular Outriders have corkscrews?

@echotech- can you show us the inside of one of your cases? I have my shelf queen alox in a pelican case but I’m in search of a more cost effective method going forwards and yours looks good!
With pleasure Steve, always looking for an excuse  :tu:

Find these cases work really well as you can see into them and they’re padded

Will post the mod 61’s when that 1962 BYSAK you so kindly helped me with arrives :tu:

Day 7

Been out for a drive in the bush again today, trying to make the most of it before back to work on Monday.

This is the Adventurer (there’s a pic of my SAK too, boom boom… ) at Mangrove Creek Dam north of Sydney

Getting used to carrying the mighty Hercules in my pocket.... here at work anyway. Don’t think I’d want to carry it just as an EDC.

The little lanyard thingy really helps to get it out of my pocket quickly. Nothing pretty, but it works!!!

Great fix! :like:

I like it the size it is but i can see where you're coming from, they are a bit bulky for their blade size but i find they pocket carry well, i don't like the neck carry option though  :tu:

Day 6  My annual hair ice pic

(Image removed from quote.)

I did remember seeing one sometime last year, still looks really amazing! :dd:

I too agree the Eldris probably is better carry in pocket than neck, I actually quite like the Mora Junior(thought it looks like a butter knife for kids), and only wish Mora would give it a slightly larger grip with a pointy blade, that'd be a great ultralight neck/pocket knife.

Day 6
Almost done with build.  Outrider has been my 111mm of choice lately.
(Image removed from quote.)
Good job, Lisa!  Don't know how you could slow build the Sesame street with such patient, I probably would go crazy and just build it in one go. :D

With pleasure, hope you guys don't mind a little detour:

Mora Eldris Light Duty:

Like the previous Eldris, it could be stacked with the sheath to make for a longer handle.  Though there is called light duty, the weight is essentially the same as the previous Eldris.

In comparison to Classic No. 2 and Companion.

Day 6
Outrider helped open a box that came in the mail and scratch some lottery tickets
(Image removed from quote.)

The lottery tickets reminded me about my previous Flashaholic life--long ago, when led wasn't all that popular, I hung out with a bunch of local incan flashlight modders quite often.  If not for brainstorming the next projects, it would be us taking all our crazy flashlight to hike outdoors.

One night we all ended up in a 7-11 after the hike, and it was right there a member discovered he could use the bright light to shine thru the lottery ticket scratching...good thing is he purchased the ticket before doing so, and the ticket is for 7-11 in house lottery only.  But it was still pretty shocking to me how bright are those flashlights, and how quickly it could burn anything in front of the lens.

What's the difference between the OG Eldris and the light duty one?

I’m thinking of my blade change plan, original idea was a week per blade but due limited amount of 111 SAKs I’m starting to consider a longer period
