Day 07:

A change-up today; I’m carrying my slightly modded 2018 Berry Pioneer. That means no scissors, so I’m also carrying a brand-new alox Classic. It’s the first Classic that I’ve owned in probably 5 years, and I had forgotten just how tiny they are (even compared to an Executive)!

This alox combo still means no tweezers or toothpick so I may or may not be cheating by carrying an Executive in the watch pocket of my jeans. I can’t comment on that.
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra

Day 7/30: Alox Pioneer Cuts High-Vis Cord!

Feeling crafty today! I used the main blade of my Alox Pioneer to cut some cords, crafting a high-visibility key fob.

Day 7 bonus:

Got my tractor back from service (finally…) and used the pioneer to cut the tag off.

Another bonus is the pioneer on the seat of my grass mowing machine (cue Tim the Tool Man grunt).

That’s a nice TL-29. I still have my father-in-law’s Army issued TL-29 from the Korean War. Great knives.
Thanks, and hope to see your FIL's TL-29 someday! :hatsoff:

Day 6 of 30
I'm not doing that as much as I used to...

It had the honour to open a package containing an old cross Elinox Pioneer...
I sincerely hope that they didn't put tape directly on that beautiful old Pioneer!

Cool tractor! :tu:

Another great day, y'awl!

Day 7

Today I'm showing the only Alox 58mm I own: this little Companion. It was discussed at some length in this thread.

Obviously, the prop for the day is a pistol cartridge. The photo may not show it too well, but it's stamped "WCC .41."

Cute.  I see lots of ducks in the wild around me, but none of the nice white.

I’m interested what you think of that leatherman. I’ve been curious about the knife based free series since they came out. Particularly the handle ergonomics.

Fortunately not... It was shipped inside a zip lock bag, which was taped to a cardboard sleeve.

Good pictures and uses everyone!

Day 8

I went for a blast through a nearby forest, and sliced an apple with the Farmer next to a stream. The somewhat darker red anodisation was an exclusive years ago for the main South African importer/retailer.

Winter is the main wet season in south-east Australia. I am east of Melbourne, in a regional area of Victoria. Winter just arrived and everything is beautifully green already! 😍

Alox Addict Challenge
Day 7 of 30

Spent the day on the bikes visiting a few of Georgia's covered bridges. Luckily, we ran into no mechanical issues that required a knife. After it got hot, we stopped and had some ice cream to cool off.

Day 7: I’m finally getting around to posting yesterday’s submission. I had to pop yet another blood blister. I don’t get it. I haven’t had a blood blister in years, and now I get two in two days? Well, they’re keeping the electrician’s blade busy.

Day 8:

Had to drive two hours north, from Georgetown, KY to Connersville, IN ( where we are from… ) to fix a bad tire on my 85 year old mother-in-law’s riding mower.

Apparently, some guy charged her $20 to come look at it (service call fee) then said he couldn’t find a leak (even with soapy water) and refused to do any more.

I aired the tire up to 20psi, poured a glass of soapy water on the tire, and found the leak in about 10 seconds. Guy’s an IDIOT!!!!

Anyway, used my custom Farmer X’s inline awl to open the hole a little bit (couldn’t get the reamer thru the hole)(sorry, no pic of that…) then plugged it.

Waited an hour then went out and used the main blade to trim the plug.

Holding air and doing fine!  Haha

Interesting! What did you modify?

Not much. None of the tools are modified, but I replaced the main blade with an older “rostfrei” stamped blade that had more belly and a pointier tip. The main modification was replacing the rivets with threaded pivot barrels and torx screws for easy disassembly.

Day 8:

Did some outside chores. Had a bunch of trimming to do along the edges of the trees/woods (mainly trimming back the smurfing honeysuckle ).

Pioneer opened the cellophane for the new pack of work gloves.

Used the can opener to help pull the stubborn cotter pin out of the trailer hitch. Yet another use for this handy implement.

Later, used the alox classic scissors to snip the tag off a long sleeve sun shirt. I’m hoping this shirt is cool enough to use for property maintenance during the summer. I like the long sleeves to help avoid poison ivy.
