Day 6: Titanium and TwoLayer Tuesday!

Featuring:
CRK Sebenza, which is my daily carry anyways, EAGTac titanium flashlight, and silver cadet. I think the cadet was a limited edition at some point as the shield is silver as well.

MP Monday
During my service, Gerbers were the multi-tool of choice. Apparently Sailors really liked being able to deploy the pliers with a flick of the wrist.

I've been impressed with it's ability ever since I did the Minichamp challenge.
I'd like a MiniChamp with the combo tool. But I don't know if I should scale swap (I'd prefer a toothpick to a pen) or go Alox.

Good day for a Tinker photo.
:iagree:

Well I got behind a couple days being sick.
Hope you're at 100% now!

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 6
Tactical Tuesday
An old edc favorite of mine, ColdSteel Recon 1 w/ Snaggeltooth opener mod.
At 5.5in blade it is the smallest of CS 'Mega Folders' but was right at the limit of the old TX knife restrictions (removed in 2017, TX can carry anything now)

The bit driver is a phenomenal tool.  I’d even go so far as to suggest it may be the best thing out there for small to medium size screws.

Despite owning however many actual small/electronics screwdrivers, I usually wind up reaching for my cybertool for fixing little appliances like shavers. It's awlso my go to when I'm traveling to do light tech work somewhere (setting up a livestream at a remote venue, etc.).

I'd like a MiniChamp with the combo tool. But I don't know if I should scale swap (I'd prefer a toothpick to a pen) or go Alox.

I generally prefer Cellidor for my keychain knives so I have T&T, but my favorite Minichamp is the alox (maybe since it keeps the thickness a bit more reasonable). To be even more crazy, I like the old removable (like the 91mm model) pen over the click and slide.

Day 6: Twofer Tuesday

The combo of the Russlock and Executive form the basis of my knife/tool carry. Pretty much any challenge, any day, I've got at least one of them on me. The Russlock is a good, small, simple OHO.  Once you get it down, the razor arm action is (IMO) more comfortable than a thumbstud. If I just need an easily accessible, mediumish blade (say when I'm carrying a larger multi with an awkward to access knife) it's my favorite to just drop in my pocket and go.

The Executive is the best execution of the Classic/Lobster style knife I've seen. The 74mm size means all the tools are scaled up a bit from their 58mm counterparts, but (unlike an 84) it still fits comfortably on a keychain. The Minichamp might cram more tools in, but I don't find they add a lot of actual capability. The longer file with nailcleaner/tiny SD tip is much better than the 58 version (though I give the 84 the nod as Vic's best), and the orange peeler (the best package opener in the game) adds a surprisingly capable "real" driver. I fixed a doorknob with it once, didn't think it'd be able to handle it. I should've known better. The only thing it's really missing is a cap lifter, but the driver tip on the peeler can get in the crimps to loosen up a few until you can pop it.

Seems like there is a Wingman Wednesday?  Maybe I didn't just imagine it.  A week finished in the challenge.  Feels like it has been forever.  I think I am having challenge hangover from the last MTO Anniversary wingding.  Best wishes.  G

It was me that started that Gary  :salute:

I love my Wingman and would carry it more if UK EDC stuff was less "complicated"  ::)

That said, I have been stood down again for the overseas deployment (for tonight, at least )

So, as the next flight will be a military type one, I decided to add my Wingman to the kit. I will use it whilst off duty with the Fenix as batteries are awlways available (electricity, not so much  ;))

Stay safe awl  :drink:

Day 7: Wood Handled Wednesday!

I don’t know a whole lot about this knife. I bought it from a street vendor at an artisan style festival in Italy. It is supposedly hand-made and the handle is supposedly olive wood. I actually believe that it is hand made because the fit and finish is fairly rough, not factory looking. However, the knife is a very sharp full flat grind with what feels like a convex edge. This is probably the strongest backspring on a slipjoint that I own. It has an extremely strong half stop as well.

I don’t know the steel
I don’t remember the maker’s name (see the “G” on the blade)
I don’t even remember the city I bought it in (although I could find that out)

If anyone happens to be able to provide insight it would be much appreciated! I also have a picture of one of the booths at the event. I don’t know that this is the one the knife is from though

Carrying my modded Wave for a very Wet Wave Wednesday.  The Wave will help take care of some bush and tree trimming in the mist. Unfortunately today’s the only day I can get to it so it’s just got to be done.

Some great categories I don’t really follow in these first 7 days!

I see wood handle Spartans with the same engraving as mine pop up occasionally. No clue what polyglot commissioned them, but they obviously made quite a few.

Not from Vic, but I've seen them through resellers. I awlso only ever had one, and I passed it on to a friend. Like I said, the alox is my preference. I don't find either of the 58mm pens super usable, I don't like losing tweezers or toothpick, and the "switch" for the modern one is awkward. You still lose T&T with the alox, but at least you cut the width.

Day 7 bonus: it’s also Waiter Wednesday!

Usually when I carry my Wave I will also carry a 58mm SAK or my Waiter for the scale tools. The Waiter gets pocketed when I want a food safe blade or need the corkscrew (which is usually an excuse just to drink wine and slice up fancy cheeses).

Today it was my go to for slicing some bread for some new homemade jams and adding a bit of extra zest to a drink that wasn’t very good to begin with…

My bet is warranty claims.  The Juice line weren’t quite full size MTs, which made them great to carry but perhaps not as robust.

I have long wanted a 91mm with yellow scales. Eventually I'll make that happen.

Everything has gotten so expensive.
I'm sure there are still some deals out there. Don't give up hope!

Day 8
Throwback Thursday

For a day that finds me waiting for a mystery package from UPS, we have the Gerber Multi-Lite. It was a neat idea...I suspect the difficulty or replacing the battery may have been the reason for its discontinuation.
