Day 8+

End of day, just returned home after busy afternoon and evening.  Tinker in pocket, rest of kit in bag.
Uneventful do no action required by the SAK, clip or tape.

First, happy belated birthdays to marlowe221 and Storm! :drink:

Second, Zippo does or did indeed make tape measures. I used to have one. It was nominally two inches square, and it had a decent-sized tape. It originally had a logo (International-Harvester, I believe) that fell off. :twak:

Third, great work by awl! :2tu:
I had seen a video of a tape measure insert someone made for a Zippo that I thought was nice.  The same person had made a Zippo insert that had a small knife sharpener and bit holder.  I would have loved to have one of those.
Day #8

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

A mini version of the MacGyver toolset: Vic Escort, paperclips, and transparent tape (wrapped around a piece of pen refill).

Cheers,
m
Definitely mini set
Day 8: cut up some sausage with the Ranger. I think Mac would have loved carrying a Ranger.

Might be time for Gary to clear out his cookies, history, and whatnot. I can't think of any celebrities that really appeal to me, but like Gordon, I think I'm gonna fly solo for a long while.

This challenge has been fantastic. Come for the photos, stay for the humor! :D

Day 8

Agent 00 reporting in.

The black and white event of the evening was almost ruined.  The lint roller failed to appear so had to break out the quack tape to pick up the very visible lint and fur.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

DAY 9

Had a mad moment and pulled apart a new Roxon S803E multi tool to make a UK edc friendly fire tool....the paper clip, hairpin and a toothpick, helped to rebuild the tool into a different design....the SAK watching

The rebuild

The finished job, next to the box show what it did look like....

Effectively what I did was move the all the tools from one side of the handle, minus the knife blade, and put them over to the other handle which had the wood saw. Discarding the blade, and plier head.  The only issue was that the barrel pin was a different size to the plierhead holes, so used the pin that was on the otherside (which was striped and not by me, thus the original issue as the steel for the pins/screws are too soft).

I had to used super glue to lock the pin and screws in place, and the leatherman crunch helped to hold it altogether....as can be seen in the picture below

DAY 9  My car key/fobs are on one side, and on the ring I have a Rambler, Kershaw thing, Olight, and Ti hanger.  I don't use the pocket hanger because it really tears up pocket edges, so I put my roll of tale on it and added a paperclip.  Instant mini McG kit on the keyring.  If I shorten the tube I used as a tape roller, it would fit better. :D

Day 9

I do appreciate all the helpful hints in response to my last post.  I will be more careful with my toothpaste-alikes.  Likewise, I will stop letting the raccoons inside.  I am also, as friend Dan suggested, clearing out all my cookies.  I should be finished with that today.
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
I will have to admit that I don't understand all of the posts on MTo.  Usually it is for some acronym or other.  I have to look it up.  This one just came up from friend Gra.  How about a quote?  "...Roxon S803E multi tool to make a UK edc friendly fire tool"  I know what edc is, I learned the term here.  After I had been doing it all my life already.  I'm not so sure what a fire tool is?  I thought it was the little set of three things that put by a fire place.  Poker/hooky tool, mini sweeper, dust pan.  Usually brass, and decorative.  Fire tool?  Hmmm?
Might have to switch up my MacGyver carry in a week or so.  The Tourist has been a great carry.  Can't even tell it is in your pocket.  I use the pen now and then to write something.  I took the batteries out of it, so the laser doesn't work now.  It's sad when you try to fill out a paper at the bank and melt a hole in a countertop.  Oops.  How did that happen?  Best wishes.  G

The Roxon S803E has a firestarter/ferro rod built in, you use the back of the saw to strike it. I liked that, and the screwdrivers and can opener, it's the blade that locks, which for the UK is hard to justify...so everything I want, in a compact package and UK legal to carry

Now I know what a fire tool is.  I told you I learn things here.  I meant to find the pocky knife display at W-Mart yestiddy, but forgot.  I hope they didn't take it out for good.  Used to be near the outdoor campy/hunt/fish stuff.  They always stocked any kind of SAK you wanted, as long as you wanted a red Tinker.  Or a red Classic SD.  Best wishes.  G

💥DAY 08💥

spent most of yesterday in the car traveling back to civilization. But finally got home late late last night and passed out before I could post. Used the scissors on the red PX many times to open snacks for the road. Bottle opener for some much-needed drinks at a rest stop.
Rusty and brown tape riding Sidecar. :2tu:

Today I broke out my beloved 80s era Champion I got at an antique store brand new old stock paired with a Classic. Used the inline Phillips to change a battery in a fun kid's book we got our toddler daughter at a thrift store.
