Great pic. I used to use a SAK can opener to separate LEGO bricks until that orange tool came along.

Day  14

Well,  I watched TV Thursday night, an episode of ELSBETH, solving a murder at a CROSSWORD PUZZLE Championship.

I am a big SODUKO fan, as I like number games. but after following this show, I thought, “ I should give a crossword  puzzle a shot, looks straightforward enough!”

Found one in a magazine, and after reviewing…

Nah, not my cup of tea, in a manner of speak🤔

Letters, and spaces, never enough room…
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I was afraid of this.

I keep my cadet in my phone case so that I'll always have it handy.  To be honest, it's probably the least used knife, but it's there. So, today we're doing another cigar slice.

Used the box cutter rather than the cadet, couldn’t bring myself to gunk up the blade unnecessarily

Day 15

Yesterday I changed the oil on the motorcycle (a 2017 Honda CRF1000 Africa Twin), but I somehow overfilled it.

Today I used the Cadet to rig a suction device to extract oil through the dip stick port to correct the level. I used a syringe and electrical tape over the spout to get a drinking straw to fit tightly. The Cadet cut strips of tape. A few more turns of tape sealed the straw sufficiently to operate.

Day 15

Have not used the Cadet today, so I will just note that yesterday I changed the pick attached to it from a CountyComm one to this Titaner version:

This is more suitable for SAK attachment because it is in three sections rather than two. Meaning if it is getting in the way of using the SAK you can unscrew it and leave only a small stub attached, and the detached sections screw together independently to make a full-length pick.

Cool picture! I used to drive a JLG bucket lift with a 90 foot boom when I was a boatswain's mate in the Navy. When we were in home port I was on the paint crew for a while, working on the side of the carrier. That JLG was a lot of fun once I got the hang of it.

Since I mentioned my time as a boatswain's mate, I thought I'd share my 39 year old boatswain's knife, along with a good SAK alternative. The Cadet is showing the closest thing it has to a marlin spike.  :dunno:

Day 15

Quiet day on home front that also included travel across the county to visit daughter and grandson for lunch. Celebrating his 17th bd.

Returned travel home against some nasty winds from the south stirring up dust storms from barren farm fields.

At home, preparing dinner, underway, but took a comparison picture of the BLACK CADET, along side the BLACK SWISS CHAMP

The wife and I drove out to see her uncle, before he goes back to Florida, next week.  So,  I had no cigar cutting or other idle uses for the Cadet today.

Resurrecting an old pic from the phone for today.

Day 14 - catch up

The can opener came in handy to open a can of beans to accompany breakfast.

Day 15

Just needed some staples removed.  It didn't occur to me until after I had removed the staples that I could've used the nail file with the pointy end instead of the can opener.     Either way, it worked.

The classic prying task - getting the lid off a can of paint.

The Cadet works quite well for this, despite its small size.
