Beautiful set! I'm still trying to find the 2015 and 2018 Cadets for my collection.

Day 20

Hung out and listened to music this evening. Not much use for the Cadet.

Thanks John  :tu:
Good luck getting the missing ones

My impression was Vic was attempting to quit making awl 84mm and 85mm models.

The Cadet was in the family.

I also learned that Vic also lost the Nespresso aluminum recycling program.   So maybe they started to have a tantrum and took it out on the consumers as well.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Impressive!

Perhaps this is just me, but I still cannot comprehend why Victorinox dropped the very popular Cadet from their annual exclusives.  :ahhh

To replace it with the locking Evoke. I cannot imagine that thing being popular? I cannot recall ever seeing one in the wild, or even in photos being carried and used.

Am I missing something?

As I mentioned previously, I think it may result in discontinuation of the 84mm size.

I do own a PRO ALOX, (before EVOKE LINE) actually to heavy for me to carry, but it is a blade that can do equal tasks that a fix blade made.

I do have Pro with nylon handles, it is a work horse and realistically priced for what you get.

The Boss Lady spent a couple hundred on getting the lawn mower fixed up last year but after the winter we needed to give it a boost to get it started.  Had this little boost pack for several years now and while it still works I'm thinking about an upgrade to a boost pack/ tire inflater combo.

Day 22 (late)

With a friend from the other side:

These two would actually make a decent dual carry, the Micra providing the scissors, small blade, tweezers and eyeglass screwdriver the Cadet lacks. It’s still tough luck if you have a bottle of wine to open, though.

Day 23

A sort of commentary…

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Before this challenge I had two CADETs. The Silver, still in the display package, a pawn shop find several years ago, but I never opened.   The other was a Royal Blue, DLT exclusive to match a FARMER (my 1st Alox), a ELECTRICIAN AND A PIONEER I had in bought
From a Swiss eBay seller a couple years prior. The Blue remained in the carton.

So, before March, I never actually used a CADET as I was satisfied with my Vagabond and SPARTANs or CLIMBER.

I freed the Silver From the clam shell, located a pocket slip, fitted a zipper pull color coordinated and committed to 30 days of CADET activity.

And so far have truly enjoyed using this nifty knife.

I returned to DLT to see if they had restocked the GREEN CADET, 😢 no!  Looked at other options, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the RED, again, OUT OF STOCK, displayed when added to my cart. So, tried the BLACK, delighted, it landed in the cart, so I found a couple more items to add to my collection, and free shipping!!!

So I now have three, awl 3 have seen action!

But, reflecting back many many years, some may say eons, a POCKET PAL was first larger SAK, and then a RECRUIT! Both 84mm, both rather cheap found at big box type store, both in the under $15 range, maybe much less, bought separately maybe a year apart. Both very functional knives imho.

But, my tastes have evolved. The CADET in the PINNACLE for light weight functional elegance!

My eyes now search for other colors, hoping to score a RED, but will not ignore reasonably priced others.  Someday🥹

Thank you allowing me this opportunity and I too will admit I just enjoy seeing the daily reports and pictures for you great folk  :SAKnight:

March 23rd is a special day for me.
It's the day, some 46 years ago, that the Boss Lady became my wife.
To honor the day, I'm using the Cadet photo from the anniversary challenge, for today's submission.

Well said.

I think that, more than any other model in the range, the Cadet really epitomises the “gentleman’s knife”. Slim and modest in weight, it’ll vanish into the pocket of suit trousers or even a waistcoat. And its elegant and unthreatening appearance mean it can be used even in more formal situations without unseemliness. Yet it is dense with usefulness!

Also, they are quite addictive. Even though I just got a new one, I feel like I could do with one or two more.
