I received an 84mm Tinker as a gift in the 70's. I lost it a few years later but have kept some sort of SAK ever since.

I was disappointed that the Small Tinker wasn't available in the US when I went to get a replacement. Since I had to get a larger knife, I carried a super tinker for awhile. When it broke I discovered the Scientist. It broke a back spring after a few years and Swiss Army disappointed me again when they said they didn't actually repair knives, just replaced them, so I had to settle for a Yeoman.
I still carry the Yeoman but always wanted to replace that first Tinker. I finally found it. A pretty common knife, I know, but I'm pretty excited to find one in this condition. The auction photo was horrible but when I received the knive it was new and unused. Someone put it in a little handmade leather pouch and left it there for 35 years.

Sorry to ramble. I enjoy knowing there are other SAK geeks out there. Now I have to figure out how to take photos. I can't seem to get the exposure right on the blades.

Oh I want a Yeoman so badly.  I wish I had been introduced to SAKs when that was available.

That started off as a Voyager lite, but the lite mechanism is going into an alox mod for a very unique combination of tools.  Still working on the alox one.

my alox collection just went from one to two:

older pioneer with brass liners and I believe is the brushed finished tools.

Yes if you look closely the previous owner got a little crazy with sharpening. it'll work that out and this is a user so it will be fine for the price i got it at.

I dig the original cross and the worn look of the alox already done for me.  the brass liner is cool too.

It's only been maybe a month and a half or something like that for me, but I know what you mean.  I already have the desire for the anticipation of a new SAK coming in the mail :mail:  I do so enjoy that whole process, and then opening it and checking it out.   :D

A smooth alox silver Cadet II. It needs a thorough cleanup, but it looks like it's in very good condition!

BAH!!!

I just got a horn scaled Wenger in today, which I had led to believe had scissors (Traveller) but it doesn't! I spoke to the seller who said it's the last one ... there are no scissor models. I now need to decide whether to keep it (with a discount) or send it back for a refund

here is some info, i believe Wenger have used similar package in the 70s, these are from the 80s, mid/late,
on the smaller ones they have a sticker showing the tool functions, on the larger there are no backside info and the functions is printed on the paper, a small sticker to tell about the fl.sc driver locking....ps took the pictures at 500watts light, hopefully readable

Well, I just got offered a 50% discount if I keep it - so it looks like it's here to stay. I also received an Iron Grip and Ranger 14 in the same package and I'm now going to go pour a glass of wine and play with 'em  :D

Oh Man... too bad ... the Horn Travelers seem hard to find.  Still sounds like you got a deal with the 50% discount.

Decided to give four layers another try, this time with a TEK P-7 clip.

I had an Explorer years ago, but it was just too much for regular pocket carry.

Just picked up a Huntsman Plus from Amazon.... $29.75... and set it up with the TEK clip and a paracord lanyard with a Photon Freedom flashlight fob. So, we'll see how it goes. Maybe the clip will make four layers acceptable for EDC... If not, I'll go back to Compact|Camper+Rambler combo, and put the Huntsman in my daypack or car.

I got a helluva deal ... cheaper than I can get an Evo14 most places as is happens  :ahhh .... I still wish it had scissors though :dd:

The Iron grip still isn't as slim as I'd imagined (hoped) it to be, and whilst everything on it is bloody brilliant, overall the proportions are still very ... odd! I need to ponder that one

The Ranger 14 is excellent though. None of the ergonomics issues that are on the 130mm line (in other words I can get my hand round the bloody thing), but of course the slide lock and blade mounted at the rear means no OHO  :-\ Aside from that ... great knife and better in hand (for me) when using the saw etc than my Rangergrip 90. Those scissors are cool too  :D :D :D :D
