Okay, nothing nearly so fancy for me, but my Evo 88 came in the mail today.  I swapped the scales with my Evo 81 so now I have an EvoGrip 88.  :)  It's living on my keychain now.

Just browsing Ebay and won another auction on a yellow Leatherman KF4.  It wasnt planned but oh well.  I gotta stay off that site! LOL

Aye, this site promotes multitool addiction.  :pok:  Getting married doesn't seem to be the cure, but am sure that has its other perks.  :D

Thanks.   It's a good little tool.   :tu:  It's getting pocket duty today, and I put my Executive on my keychain.  It didn't come with the evo-grip scales though, I swapped them from my Evo 81, which has the plain red evo scales on it now.  I also turned them around so the T&T were up by the split-ring, just as an added safety measure to keep them from falling out.

I like that the flathead/bottle-opener is a nice thick piece of steel.  The way it tapers to the point of the driver would make it good for light/fine prying tasks as well.  I haven't tried the eyeglass driver yet, and I'm not sure what the sacking needle would be good for other than use as a general pokey/scrapey thing, but I'm sure I'll find it useful eventually.  I guess in a 'tactical' situation I could always use it to poke someone in the eye...

It's got some advantages over my Juice S4; lighter overall weight (haven't weighed them, but I can feel the difference in-hand), better blade, better small flathead driver, better bottle opener, and the toothpick.  The S4 is better in other ways, mainly the scissors, but the S4 also has a medium size flathead driver the 88 doesn't have.

Compared to my Executive, the Exec has a larger blade, larger nail file, and the orange peeler (which I actually do use for peeling oranges!).  The scissors spring on the 88 is definitely tougher than those on the Vics, and they seem to grab the work a little better too.

Overall, it's a nice little SAK.  Because of its size and that it overlaps the S4 most in terms of the tools it has, it's going to live on my key-chain most of the time.  Unless I find it to be a better fit for my modest needs, I'll keep pocket carrying my Exec and/or my S4 (I got tired of trying to figure out which one is the better pocket tool for me, so now I just carry both).

The Rescue is a SAK that made a big splash when it first appeared but we don't seem to hear much about it these days.  Nice find for a good price. :)

Exactly. The main blade looks awful, needs a good polishing, but I don't think I'm able to do it without burning the blade. :(

Victorinox Cadillac (Luxury Motorist).  It was stored in a leather pouch and the St Christopher emblem was badly tarnished. The rest of the knife was excellent, and it cleaned up very nicely.

I got two straight screwdrivers this week, must be a good week for those. On the 91mm the inlay is OK but the scale is ruined because of a scratched in engraving of a full name. It will be new scales or parts for that one.

Saw that and was thinking what a waste of a good knife. Good luck with restoring it..

IIRC, it's called a 'sacking needle'.  For stitching burlap or other similar fabrics together I imagine.  I'd use it just like a leather stitching awl if I had to actually stitch with it.  Other than use as a general pointy/pokey device, I guess I could poke someone I didn't like in the eye with it!   >:D

It was a little expensive for parts, but if I needed that tool in a mod it would be hard to find.  I figure an expert could cut the scale and do a nice inlay.  Or cut out the inlay and use that on some custom scales.  Right now I figured it just needed a good home.

Might be worth researching plastic welding to fix that "engraving" butchery.

Not sure how cellidor behaves with melting,  but if it works you could use an old scale as filler material,  (like a welding rod).

Could be worth a crack.

I received an 84mm Tinker as a gift in the 70's. I lost it a few years later but have kept some sort of SAK ever since.

I was disappointed that the Small Tinker wasn't available in the US when I went to get a replacement. Since I had to get a larger knife, I carried a super tinker for awhile. When it broke I discovered the Scientist. It broke a back spring after a few years and Swiss Army disappointed me again when they said they didn't actually repair knives, just replaced them, so I had to settle for a Yeoman.

I still carry the Yeoman but always wanted to replace that first Tinker. I finally found it. A pretty common knife, I know, but I'm pretty excited to find one in this condition. The auction photo was horrible but when I received the knive it was new and unused. Someone put it in a little handmade leather pouch and left it there for 35 years.

Sorry to ramble. I enjoy knowing there are other SAK geeks out there. Now I have to figure out how to take photos. I can't seem to get the exposure right on the blades.

That's is great!  :tu:  I dont know why they decided to make them bigger.  I dont like them bigger.

I too had the small one since the 70's and I still have it but some of the tools have so much play in them I dont use it anymore.  My understanding is it is the springs but not sure myself.  All the play is up/down.
