I've got a Google Nexus which seems pretty good to me :tu:
Nexus 7 tablet?

I like the look of it, but can't really justify spending money on a new tablet while mine is still alive...
Yep :) it does what I need, but I'm far from an expert about these things

Such things are fairly wasted on me though :D

Its easier to use and certainly faster than other tablets I've used though :)

Considering upgrading at last... Kinda torn between a Asus (Google) Nexus 7 (32Gb) and a Samsung Galaxy tab 2 10.1 (16Gb)

Actually got my hands on the Nexus 7 today and really liked it despite being buggered by many hands (it was the display model at the local electronics superstore...) I probably would have gotten it if they had any besides the display model on stock... they had a bin full of the tab 2's though...

The one thing that really bugs me about the Nexus 7 is the lack of camera on the back.  I don't need the camera on the front since I don't usually do self shots or video chat nonsense, but I was thinking of getting one for work.  The idea is that I could take photos and insert them right into the report I'm generating right on the scene and save myself some effort.

Nexus 7 is sort of the reverse of my phone when it comes to cameras... the camera is not really a feature I cared about... but then again, I'm sorta biased towards my Nikon D5100 taking better pictures than a phone or tablet will... yes I get the all in one tool concept, but I do have the feeling that sometimes all-in-one does not perform how a task intended tool will... (strange on this forum, I know :P)

ipad 4 is the price of both the tablets I'm looking at combined... pass.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I was a bit disappointed in how much it is an oversized cell phone instead of a computer when I got it, but as my expectations have been tempered by reality, I think it's a nice piece of kit for couch surfing. Handwriting recognition works well enough for English (very much better than Norwegian), so it's manageable to write short forum postings and stuff like that without a keyboard.

I utterly hate finger smudges on any screen, so one of the "finger painting generation" tablets has always been out of the question for me.

from what I saw at the shop yesterday, the Galaxy Tab (289eur) is about half the price of a Galaxy Note (499eur iirc)...

I've looked at the Google Play store and I can get the 16gb Nexus 7 for 199 +10eur delivery... I think it's going to win. Most reviews seem to point at it being a much better tablet even if it is 7 inch instead of 10.

i had an iPad and, at the time, I found it was really only good for showing everyone I could afford an iPad. Sold it, bought two Kindle Fires for the wife and I, but now am getting the hankering for a "real" tablet. Torn between the Mini iPad and the Galaxy. Stay tuned...

I've played around on an ipad before, and they're a nice piece of kit, but judging by the rate they're releasing new better ones my money is better spent on a less expensive alternative so it doesn't hurt to upgrade so much in a year...

I like my wife's ipad mini and the big reason I'd consider getting one is that there are more case options available for iOS products than Androids simply because there isn't as much variety in the handsets.

It is somewhat pricier than the Nexus 7 though, and I'd rather stick with Android since that's what I already have. I don't want to set up an icloud account since I already have too many MSN, Google, Yahoo etc accounts.

I bought myself a Nexus 7 (32GB) a couple weeks ago, and haven't been able to put it down since.  :D  the Nexus 10's look nice too, but I wanted something more portable.

For what it's worth, there seem to be more options for cases now than there were a few months ago when the Nexus 7 was first released... not sure about any waterproof options though.

I have found some waterproof cases on eBay for the Nexus 7. They are no name types from Hong Kong which kind of leaves me a bit cold in trying them.  And yes I do want a waterproof one since I want to use it at work, and I work outside in a place with a lot of rain.

Tried a bunch of tablets so far, but my main squeeze is the iPad gen3.  I like the EeePad transformer with Android a lot also.  I bought a BB Playbook just because it was cheap, and it's OK to play with.

I'll draw the line on the MS Surface tablet. I don't see a use for it, and I don't need another platform. I suspect a bit of a ruse by Microsoft here; introducing a tablet with Windows 8 RT, which doesn't run full Windows apps, but doesn't have many good RT apps for it either.  When the promised Windows 8 Pro machine appears (which will run full Windows apps) I'd be very surprised if it's any lighter than a typical Windows ultrabook and doesn't have a roaring cooling fan inside.

To be honest I like the idea.  While it isn't ideal for taking it around with you on your daily travels, many folks just use them around the home or office.  I like the idea of having lots of screen real estate, and I can see it coming in very handy for people who use it as a portable media device, people who give presentations and teachers since it means everyone can see it.

It blurs the line between a tablet and smart TV, which I think is pretty cool.
