I spent some time yesterday looking at GPS apps on my phone , but could not find on that tracks where I have been in detail. So I may have to get a stand alone GPS. Thanks every one for your info.

just installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zenstudios.ZenPinball on my Nexus, shame the other tables are paid, but I'll probably spring for the Boba Fett one!

THere are some great paid ones on these apps.... I have resisted so far to buy anything except Nexus Media Manager for getting files off a USB card (my device is unrooted).

so I've been quite addicted to the free table on Zen Pinball HD on my nexus, and today sprang for the Boba Fett table... and it's awesome... I wish I had a machine like this in real life!

If you like to use your phone as a music player check out PowerAmp. It is easily worth the 4 bucks for the full version. Beautiful and feature rich ;D

I  love this forum for the variety of threads!
Is  there a similar thread  for iPhones?

That is exactly the app I was looking for. I tried it out by walking to the mail box and then a couple of chores and it showed where I went and how far. Perfect.   :tu: :tu: :tu:

Found this gem, emulate Ti 82, 83, 85 and 86 (you need to find rom elsewhere), which probably makes it the most powerful calculator available on your phone, not to mention the nostalgia for us who grew up with these in high school and uni.   :D

I'm using the pay version, but I'm not using any of the added features.  The free version would work just as well for me.

Anyone who has filled up their Dropbox might find this useful - 20GB cloud storage free using a referral link (mine is there obviously), plus 5gb extra for anyone you refer.

https://copy.com/home?signup=1&r=dgZBHa

Rather generous offer - presumably because catching up with Dropbox & box is a tough ask. Lovely looking apps for android and ios too - just search for copy in the play store and get the app from barracuda networks, signing up on the web gets us both the extra storage though.

Those of you with tablets and phones should try out mighty text too - syncs text messages between the two of them.

I signed up for mega.co.nz when it started... 50GB to start...

I still prefer the convenience of dropbox to share stuff between devices/OSes, but it's nice to have a large storage elsewhere.

I really have never felt that limited by Dropbox.  Mine is up to 6gb from referrals and I have to say I don't think I have ever hit the limit on it.  When I hit about 60% I clean it out a bit and that's really about all I ever do with it.

I have 75 gigs on Dropbox and I don't pay anything for it.  Thirty-five gigs was added to my existing account when I activated it on my phone.  About 1 gig came from referrals,  but I don't know where the rest of the capacity came from.  Occasionally I get a note from Dropbox that says, "Congratulations you have received more room on Dropbox" or something to that effect.

All this capacity comes in handy because my company uses it to share documents, lots of documents, some of which are large.  What worries me is that the 35 gigs from the phone activation is only good for 24 months.

I only have 3GB on dropbox but I don't use it that much. I mostly keep documents, pictures and app installs I know I might need and 3GB is more than plenty for that. If I send someone something bigger through it I delete it when it's no longer needed.

Thanks for the mega.co.nz heads up though, Whoey. :tu: I just signed up. It might come in handy some day. :D

I signed up for mega a while ago but no app or api means it's not much use to me for now :-(

Copy definitely seems like it has potential to me, not as supported by third party apps as box, drive or Dropbox but 20GB plus 5 for each referral is much more generous and unlike mega or bitcasa its app is great.

there seems to be an app for android for mega

check the play market

I don't find an issue using it via the browser anyways, and I'm currently only using mega for offsite storage.

Yes there is, Mega Manager BETA. Now if there would be an option to link it with ES File Explorer it would be very 8)

:D

excellent, that didn't turn up just searching for 'mega' but I'll give it look.

I would recommend people take a look at copy too though - mainly so I can shamelessly get some more free storage myself ;-)

On a complete tangent, has anyone had a look into the cryptography of mega and figured out if it lived up to its claims?

When bitcasa came out it was the first end to end secure cloud option available for consumers and they released some really meaty white papers on what they were doing - all very impressive and the reason their uploading had to be done with a third party app. Now mega claims to be doing the same thing with just browser based java script? I'm a tad sceptical...

Most of my favorites have already been listed, but here are a few more:

Neutron Media player (best-sounding, most feature-rich music player I've found)
aWARemote - use to remotely control an instance of WinAmp on any PC on your network.
MXPlayer - my favorite video player--plays all the formats I've tried and has good hardware decoding support.
Samba Filesharing - network sharing over Wifi
GLWG (Great Little War Game) - an oldie, but still my favorite game. Turn-based strategy.
Swiss Army Knife - nice set of utilities--unit conversion, compass, bubble level, etc.
- Terry

Does anyone know what the deal is with apps at Amazon?!

I got a couple of free ones, then could not for the life of me get them to download on the Nexus! Followed instruction to download the Amazon app and still couldn't figure it out. I am just being incredibly dim? :D

The sad fact is that with so many different handsets and so many different versions of Android out there not all apps are compatible with all units.
