Scissors day. I cut a few bundles of boxes. Also cut a few packages open with the blade. Assembled some shelving and marked the correct holes with the large flat blade driver.

Day 5
The Farmer X helped test out a new twig stove, by sawing some wood, that was a little too big to snap easily, into smaller pieces.

The reamer also helped to break down a pizza box from last night

:iagree: good uses and observations awl :tu:

FX is the first 93mm SAK I’ve carried for months after the minimal SAK, EDC in DEC, 111mm and poker face challenges, it’s good to be back

During the 111 I got used to having a heavier SAK in my pocket, so not really finding the FX size/weight a problem but agree you notice it over the huntsman

You feel properly equipped with the FX, a professional tool, a genuine contender for a one only SAK if it ever came to that ( :ahhh :ahhh please cover the ears of young children, such thoughts should not be encouraged :twak: )

 that looks to be a most refreshing drop Surge, do like a nice ale

Day 6

In continuation of trying a different MT saw each week, the FX turn

Sos24 observed last week that the FX and 93mm range are one of the most comfortable in hand of all MT’s as you’re not tightly gripping back tools or something like the LM Waves OHO blades.…you really notice that difference sawing branches

:iagree: very comfortable, did a great job as remembered

The soap dispenser at work hasn't had a key since...maybe ever? Durn't matter. It turns out anything the shape or size of an inline SAK awl will work fine.

I swear I'm putting in a new soap bottle: not stealing the old one.

End: Day 5

Great work, awl!

I could be wrong, but I think it’s Happy Birthday today to JR aka MadPlumbarian -  I’ll definitely be opening one later to mark the occasion, and yeah, ok it’s Saturday!

Day 6

Early morning courier dropped off a parcel, the awl made light work of the tape - it’s an insert for a Paterson daylight developing tank to take sheets of 5x4 film, should be much better than the square tanks I sold a while ago which sadly worked best in a darkroom - the flow was too slow for the edge effect developers I prefer. Digital photography is great, but I do enjoy developing B&W film - been doing it for 50 years now, gulp!

Not to derail, but what do you shoot with equipment wise? I started with film but made the change to digital and never looked back. From time to time I miss film but full frame digital gets me close enough.

Not at all! I’ve used tons of kit over the years from minor sub-miniature to 5x4 inc. digital H Hasselblad (an H3DII50) when I was doing weddings as a sideline. Favourite cameras? Leica reflex (still have an old SL2), Rollei SL66 and 6008 (better to my mind than V-series Hasselblad, but others will differ), Ebony 45SU (sold at a profit to fund the digital Hasselblad) and H series Hasselblad. All gone now to fund a lifestyle change! I currently only have the SL2 and the use of a friend’s aged Linhof Master Technika from time to time for fun, though I might try and get a 5x4 when I retire. I have to say that all modern kit is fantastic, but I miss the craft aspect to photography, but then I’m a dinosaur!

My uncle says the same. He is a wedding/portrait photographer and works in a photography store. Says digital doesn't have the character of film. It took him a while to switch to digital for weddings. I shoot with a Canon 5D IV & Canon 80D. Took me a while to figure out my lens situation. Lots of trial and error

6.

Been on a short hike with the family. Sunny but cold and windy, so quite chilly.

Found a nice feather matching my knife. Believe it belongs to a kingfisher, have to look it up.

That is awesome that you still do the developing of film.

I will never forget learning how to develop with the Girl Scouts.  It was an awesome experience.

I didn’t know KK did frosted.  Then again I only really had them when the light said “hot” or someone brought some to work.

Day 6
Modded the FX. I don't ever use a lanyard ring and remove them as soon as the knife comes out of the box. So I filed the majority of it off with the swisstool spirit file and then got it smooth with the Leatherman diamond file. Finished with 400 grit sandpaper. Even though I taped it the file kissed it once. No big deal. Now that I got the first scratch out of the way I won't be treating it like a safe queen anymore.
