Growing on me too Adam, even the internal tools are better then I thought they’d be, although I did have low expectations.
Probably use a hammer as much as pliers day to day, so why not a hammer based MT, got to be easier to use than the type of thing you get on the LM Signal, although every other aspect of the Signal would be far superior.
Glad I chose the Hammerhead now as I’d never given it much thought prior to this challenge, it definitely hammers well enough and looks cool IMO…will it be replacing my LM’s and SAK’s long term? Probably not

This thread has some unexpected side effects. :o

Found it! There a couple of them with the Coleman brand name on ebay. Fortunately for my wallet, I am not buying anything at the moment  :D

What I like about Hammerhead is that the head is not trying to be a combo plier also. It looks better and probably performs better than the other hammer MTs.

Sounds like it has the potential to be a fun day.  Good luck and enjoy.
It was a fun day indeed, the little guy had a blast. :D

The different time and questioning is one of the reasons I choose the Classic.  The other is the whole aspect of the tool you have, is better than the one you left behind because you didn’t want to carry.  I figure the Classic easily fits any pocket or in the ID & keycard pouch I’m also sending.
I had a SAK and found it vey useful.  I thought about a few different SAKs, but thought the small unobtrusive Classic would be a perfect starter that they appreciate.  Their will also be a keychain size flashlight to match and few other more college focused items.
I really do think those are nice gifts, I had many good memories associated with my SAK during my college years and many are outdoor related. :tu:

Day 7

(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)

For me, the file is the most interesting tool on the TripSaver.  The filing surfaces are above average. Though I don't use them, the wire stripper notches do work. The hole in the file is for bending hooks on the end of wires (I think). And the end and one side are beveled and can be used for scraping and gouging (though the beveled edges are pretty blunt as is). It is multi-functional while still being capable of filing wood or metal  :tu:
Never seen something like this, sometimes the off-brand creativity is pretty intriguing.

Nice use!  How are you liking the Swisstool so far?
i think i can get used to it,but ill need more time.

Day 7. I finally found the Tough Tool I had actually bought for this challenge. It was so poorly put together and cheaply made, I decided just to go with the Swiza. Yes, the Swiza is a little weird, but I expect it to get the job done and not break and/or injure me; just like my SAKs (which I don't view Swiza knives as; as Victorinox is the only authorized company to use "SWISS ARMY")

On another note, I find Swiza's whole getting into knives thing a bit funny. Victorinox and Wenger got into watches and clocks recently in their history. However, Swiza is a over 100 year old Swiss watch and clockmaker that got into knives a little less than 10 years ago (my knife is dated 2015, and that was bought a year or two after they started selling knives).

(Image removed from quote.)

I think one of the reasons why Swiza starts making knives could be Peter Hug, the ex-Wenger CEO joined them after Wenger closed its business.  That's probably the reason I felt there's a some mild resemblance between Swiza and Wenger design concepts.

Day 8

Watching the last day of the olympics with a bottle of good wine, hammerhead (good name SteveP :like: ) looking on

(Image removed from quote.)
I too watched a fair deal of games this past two weeks, what are your favorites? :D

Day 7

Spent half the day watering and helping Mrs. P with gardening tasks, then the afternoon running errands so no real uses.

Going with a glamour shot instead.

Nice shot! :tu:

Day 8

After failing the can opening task last time, I decided to give Wetols another try and see whether it could do better.

I found a small can soup with what seems to be average lip height, and Wetols managed to open it this time, barely.

I noticed I have to really tried hard to have the cutter reaching the top of the lid, and even then, it barely touched it.  You know how P-38 supposed to open a can in 38 moves?  Well, this felt like a P-384(okay, I exaggerated, but it sure felt like P78), and really does test your patience.

Upon comparing the can opener with a SAK opener, I realize the details are all that matters.  The little relief and the minimal difference in the jar opening width on SAK may not look significant, but it does make huge difference in performance.

It appears we all need a hammerhead & people have been doing some very interesting things with their tools

It could take me until the end of the challenge to catch up and comment upon the great pics/uses  :ahhh

DAY 8

So after awl the great practical uses posted here I needed something useful for the OHT to do  :dunno:
Fortuitously, Mrs Surge requested that I replace the washing line. Well, I say requested... :pok: :twak:

I tried using just the Phillips driver but it was too short for screwing
Luckily, I have a longer bit available (from my True Utility POS) which gave me the required length

Double entendre you say... (I've got me coat on  ::) )

Day 8

A couple of outdoor tasks today...

Used the inline Phillips, then my hex bit coupler with a hex screw bit on the inline Phillips, to tighten the all the screws on a couple of Adirondack chairs.

Then used the pliers to bend a nail holding up the hummingbird feeder.

Day 8.

Since at the time my knife was made (and at present, the only Swiza I owned), they didn't offer scissors; I added a Classic SD in Silver Alox as backup. The SD nail file allows one to fit most common Phillips screws, but is an awful nail cleaner, so I deployed the D04's inline awl, which is shorter than both 84/91mm backside and 93mm in-line. I have several of the smooth Alox "Classic" (the Companion); but they're all fairly old, and I don't use them. The Classic SD, when gifted with a purchase of other knives from a member here, permanently replaced my motley crew of Cellidor Classic SDs as my primary 58mm knife.

Day 9

The saw. Considering how it wobbles both side to side and up and down, wasn’t expecting much, but the hammerhead came through again :like:
The break at the end was more caused by the 15 foot of branch at the other end than any fault with the tool. It certainly wasn’t in the class of a 111 SAK or Rebar but did the job

Really like the cycling and rowing, (all the different disciplines), watched a lot of diving this year too.
The new ones like the BMX and speed climbing were really cool, missed the skateboarding but reckon I’d have really enjoyed that too, how about yourself?

Day 08
No use today but after a week it hasn't been all that bothersome to carry in a belt pouch.  I've only hung up on a chair once and haven't caught a doorway at all.  I've lost quite a bit of weight since I last tried to belt carry the MP600, so maybe I just fit through doorways better than I used to.
