Jack, are the scissors the regular 91mm length or are they bigger to fit the 111?

Same as the 91/93mm scissors.

But I love 'em.  :D

That's the problem EB. The Rescue Tool was primarily bought, not issued, for my SAR stuff (voluntary role, not work) This means that outside my house/garden I would need to rely upon the UK "reasonable excuse" defence (i.e. SAR stuff on a live call out or organised exercise etc)

I can carry other stuff whilst on duty (i.e. my Surge, lock knife, baton etc) because I have "lawful authority" as they are issued by the UK Government. I have ministerial exemptions in place for these (and other things such as firearms etc) as I am a "Crown Servant"

Essentially, in the UK, you can carry a non-locking blade under 3 inches (7.62cm) without needing a reason, notwithstanding criminal intent etc. However, ANY locking blade (regardless of length) requires either "Lawful Authority" OR "Reasonable Excuse" and, the onus is upon me to provide proof of either.

However, unlike most of europe, OHO is not an issue (unless it's a locking blade OR over 3 inches) Both my knives fall foul on each account, unless either statutory defences apply.

Clear  :dunno:

(Sorry if that was an egg sucking exercise, but I don't know, what you know, about our messed up system  :D )

Clear as mud  nothing wrong with brushing up on the regulations.

I work, commute through, and live in three different jurisdictions.  So it matters where I am when I get arrested.    Years ago we had similar reasonable justification rules that applied to my old line of work.  At this point, I don't even know what rules that apply.  But I'm pretty sure the blade length exceeds the limit in one of the three jurisdictions I frequent.

Day 2

This probably should have been my Day 1, but I opened a package yesterday and couldn't pass up the photo opp.   Anyway, here are the pens that I will be using this month for the next 29 days.

Have a great Saturday everyone.  I am enjoying all of your photos.

111mm Day 02:

The Hercules' scissors and knife blade got used to cut and trim some packing materials and tape in the preparation of a small parcel to be shipped next week.  Love these scissors.  :tu:

Day 2:

No real use today.  Went out to Olive Garden with the family for dinner.  Man that was good!!!

Carried my Centurion with modded scales.  I used the scales off of my OH Sentinel because of the pocket clip. I had to make a cutout for the phillips driver.

DAY 3

I used everything but the awl on my Dual Pro X between EDC and fitting a new lockset (replacing one I really messed up after an incident with a soft brass key, a heavy box, and me forgetting to take it out of the inside-opening door) on the outbuilding.  I cut open some medicine and a package containing new razor blades with the PE blade. The belt cutter got used to cut the plastic ring to get a root beer removed from a six-pack and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser in half (which was used to remove slight tape residue on the belt cutter, and heavy residue on the GAK). Then, when I installed the new door lockset, I used the backside Phillips, and then the can opener when I misplaced my screwdriver (still can't find it!), as well as the cap lifter to pry an adapter piece out of the inside knob that I didn't need for the door I was working on.  I would have used the awl, but I instead chose to use the original plate that goes on the door frame.

Misplaced the Dual Pro, so let's go onto the Outrider's use. Some slight cutting, and the lanyard ring to hold the keys to this new lockset until I could stash the spare and put the regular key on my regular keys replacing the busted off one to the old lockset.

The varying of knife (and other weapons/tools) from one area to another is one of the major problems I find with a lot of laws.  The other major problem is the intentional ambiguity.

I remember having a conversation about different state “weapon” laws with a couple associates on one occasion.  One woman thought I was lying to her when I started telling her different laws she was violating on her travels from Virginia to Rhode Island with items she normally carried in her person.

Day 2
Busy couple of days around here! My mother had a sleepover with my girls New Year’s Eve, she had a little fall yesterday playing. So here’s an action photo  and an “un-glamour” shot of me putting together and putting on the new higher toilet seat for her.
Using my youngest daughters BYSAK.

Also - I’m definitely on the “corkscrew” side of the debate. I used the Phillips to put the first 2 screws in, mostly as a novelty, but switched to the can opener for the last 2. To me there’s no debate - I prefer the can opener to the Phillips anyways, and anytime I think I’ll need more I’ve got a dedicated  screwdriver handy. I don’t drink wine much anymore, but the corkscrew on my SAK has opened plenty of good memories in its day!

I find that 2A applying only to firearms to be   that entire classifications of edged weapons (which overlap with tools... I know I'm preaching to the choir) are prohibited even where firearms are allowed (albeit restricted) ... You'd think someone would have argued that brass knuckles and a OHT are ok where a CCW is  :dunno:

But let me not go down a political slippery slope.

Day 3

Had an excellent day out driving some back roads in the Hawkesbury with a mate, the outrider came for the ride.

This was the area that bore the full brunt of last year’s fires.
As you can see it’s starting to get back to normal but the “fuzzy“ growth in the last photo (sprouting up the trunk) is something I’ve not seen after fires before and shows just how intense it was.

Amazing how most trees are still able to regenerate even though they looked like burnt matchsticks not long ago

Day 2: I have to say that the belt cutter makes an excellent small blade!  In this pic, I'm using it to open a package of mozzarella cheese sticks.  This blade is more useful than I thought it would be.  More to follow!

Cool use, Barry! :tu:

Sure thing, Comis, if it hadn’t been on a decent discount I wouldn’t have got it. I have to say that I prefer the in-line awl to the backside one after cutting through all that tape! One to ponder on for the next mod.....

Making progress on the Sesame Street build:

If Big Bird carried a Vic, it would be a Hercules.

 :D

No doubt. Although I suspect Big Bird might have lost it, too.......perhaps why we don't see BB using a SAK more often.....

That's true too, how about Herculas with the lanyard attachment?  Now I feel like a Vic informercial.

I initially wanted to only use the Hercules in this challenge, but my wife served olives and, well, you know the rest :dunno:

Perfect tool for the job!  :D
