Cheesh... guess I'll have to cancel our adventure camping tour to Jezero crater. Didn't expect to meet the whole village there

Day 26

After trying out the saws on the Rebar and the Spirit this challenge, time for the Wave.

I’m most use to SAK saws which are always excellent and found the Rebar very good. The Spirit comfortable in the hand but not quite as easy as say a Huntsman saw or the Rebar.

So to the Wave, well tbh my least favourite because the outside tools make it quite uncomfortable to use. The Spirit also has outside tools but was much more comfortable, as was the Rebar with its tools inside.

Cant see any of them replacing a SAK, particularly the mighty 130 Rangerwood around the yard but good to know.

If I was carrying a PBMT in the bush it’d most likely be the Rebar for very effective saw and lighter weight

I agree mate, being used to SAK saws I was disappointed when I first tried my Wave saw.  I don't have any 130mm SAK's, they certainly sound like the cat's meow!  My wife likes to garden and I was planning to use that as an excuse to buy "her" the Ranger Gardener (71), but she got some gardening shears from her mother for Christmas.  I suppose that would make them redundant?

:like: I think the excuse still stands mate :)

I use shears too but you need a saw for the thicker stuff

All SAK saws are good as I’m sure most here, if not all would agree.
I’ve an 84mm walker which does a better job than it has any right to and obviously as you go up the sizes you get a bigger saw plus extra leverage which makes branch cutting a whole lot easier.
The 111’s are really good and the 130 a breeze.

I’ve a Bahco Laplander which is superb but doesn’t fit in your pocket like a SAK which is why the SAKs get used so much

THe 130mm saws are excellent...based on my Rangerwood 55 experience. Really like it.  :tu:

Day 25
Used the ZT knife to open a package.  I also used the ZT to cut some dog treats for Fisher’s Jumpin’ Jack (home alone treat.

The Wave had some unexpected use at the grocery store.  A rod on one of the only available carts was broken and sticking out.  Wave pliers bent it in a little and then file smoothed end so it didn’t feel sharp.  [No picture because I didn’t want to draw too much attention].

Just some mail duty and opening a packet of sausages for the pair today. The edge on the fixie is certainly much better now, still far too fat to be a slicer but a good robust edge shall we say

Wave (using a T6 bit in the driver) helped swap the pocket clip on a new knife.

The Obake made short work of slicing the 2 yr. old cheddar.  I wasn’t expecting it to be up to the standards of my cheesemaster, but it might even have been better. I’ll have to do a slice-off one day.
Slice-off would be cool!

That's an interesting conclusion--it's interesting to see how people prefer a different carry, because of their need and the tool quality.  As much as I like Rebar for what it is, I always have a tendency to favor Wave/Charge chassis because I'm blade-centric, and the real selling point for those LM tools(to me) are the OHO locking blades and the large pliers.

DAY 25!

Opened some mail, boxes, etc with my fixie!

Didn't realize how small is this knife until you put it next to a USB plug!  That's a 2-3 fingers knife?!  Cool! :like:

Day 26:
Busy day, take away lunch:

On today’s plus side I’ll add my personal completed competition plan, goals and training template for 2021.
Ancient Babylon 2021 will kick-off March 1. 1st part is labelled Steel Tiger and is supposed to carry me to podium in Seniors Revo at National championships tabled for mid-June.
So, I have set the goals and charted what I think is needed to reach them. Now it is just execute, execute, execute. Right? ;) :)

Ok thanks for helping me rationalize buying another knife!  Although now that we've moved the house selling schedule I may put it off until we actually have a garden again!

Day 26
I discovered a new cheese I’d never heard of today - they called it “Celtic Blue Cheese”. I sliced it up with my new Meerkat. The cheese was really good. If anyone doesn’t know the Meerkat, it’s got a pretty cool locking mechanism. To unlock the blade, you just push the top scale forwards with your thumb, the scales slide past each other and the blade unlocks.
