Day 27

I think folks either love or hate the LM P4 and the Cybertool Lite...I happen to love both of them.

Hold my beer... with the Cybertool I tried to put magnets in the Wrench to hold micro bits. I messed up and glued too many in the bottom so the ball detent does not work on the Vic bits. I had to file part of the flip stop mechanism so that I could still close it with a bit in it.   lesson learned and salvageable, but annoying.

  DAY 27

I guess this post is more love than hate  :dunno:

i thoroughly enjoy carrying my red FX but I realized I don't often use the saw in most of my day to day activities so thought it might be cool to pick up a pioneer x in red it arrived yesterday and I really love it :tu: it's surprisingly my first PX.

(Image removed from quote.)
the red PX and Weltool T2 TAC make for a really great light weight minimalistic carry that suits most of my needs on a day-to-day basis.

I think Bell really loves the PX awlso :D

Picked up this Zippo Bit Safe Insert, thought it was a cool idea, especially since I don't smoke anymore and have some Zippos laying around.

    Last two challenge guidelines
Day 29, post something you came to appreciate as an adult and something that invokes a sense of childhood nostalgia. The nostalgia item need not be something you've had since childhood (for example, a Matchbox car made in 2023 would be fine even if you got your first Matchbox car in 1953), but one or both items must be a knife or multi-tool.

July 30  IMR Military mini challenge / something you have but never carried mini challenge.  Two parts to this one.  Post both photos the same day, or combine both into one photo.  Post military item for first part.  Could be a military knife (or reissue/copy.)  Could be something from your military time or your father's.  Photos, mementos, etc.  Doesn't have to be a tool.... because.... Second part.  Post a photo and CARRY a knife or multi you have already but never have carried.  Not even once.  July 30 will be the day to pocket it.

Best wishes.  G

Day 28

A big Vise-Grip.  The red thing is an old Wen electric pencil.  Since there is bound to be one person out there who will ask, it is used to scribe your name/number/ID into your possessions.  Tools mostly.  Canoe pattern is a Rough Rider.  Best wishes.  G

DAY 28  When I was a kid, my dad always carried Barlow pattern knives.  He used and abused them doing anything he needed done, and eventually he would have to buy a new one.

Day 28: we needed space in the freezer, so I prepared my latest roe buck trophy yesterday. The Pioneer's awl helped to scrape away some remaining gunk after bleaching.

German roe deer is quite small compared to Northern American deer. This one was already a bigger one, weighing 25 kg (55 lbs) field dressed without guts.

Day 27: Victorinox Multiclip

I love the Victorinox Multiclip and use it everyday as a keychain and sometimes to carry my pocket knife. It's my daily go-to tool, simple & reliable.

I'm curious though, do others not like it and am I the only one who appreciates this little gem? I haven't seen anyone else that I know using one.

While I was digging out my old EDC bag, to see if my new Swiss Army Knights patch would fit, I realized that I had left some things inside, most noticeable was the only Victorinox that I ever partially disassembled.

Sometimes about 6 years ago I found a Swiss Army Knife lot, on the eBay, listed as "Swiss Army Knife Assortment, Outdoor Camo Theme, POOR to FAIR."
The lot consisted of a MiniChamp, 2 SDs along with a larger Wenger.

The chance to get another MiniChamp at a decent price won me over.  The MC was missing à red scale and the scissors as well as the primary blade looked like someone had taken an electric sharpener/grinder to them.  One SD was rusted but had the John Muir scales while the other was in decent shape with camo scales.

As this was my very first attempt at dissembling a Vic I made plenty of mistakes most noticeable in the damage to the scales studs.  Luckily I had 2 doner bodies.  As the blade/scissors on the MC ride on the same pin I figured I'd only need to replace that one.  After a quick visit to the hobby store for the appropriate size brass rod I got to work.  I was absolutely useless in freeing the scale studs so I just ground them off from one side of the doners leaving me with 4 sets and some replacement parts.  The removal of the damaged parts on the MC was easy enough but trying to reassemble them while only removing the one pin was a bit harder than I thought, however I managed to get the doner parts worked in and repainted.  I used the camo scales ón another MC and put the John Muir scales onto my newly repaired knife.

This was also about the first time that I noticed the lack of protection on the speciality scales.  It's something that I wish that Victorinox could improve on.  I did shoot them with a couple coats of clear finish to hopefully prolong the image.

DAY 28

A busy day at work but just chasing my own tail (again  ::))
Upon my return I used the Octane to remove the foil from a bottle of collapso for Mrs Surge  :twak: :drink:

Another early start tomorrow (up at 3am) so I'll bid you awl a good night  :salute:

Don't forget the Farmer X mini challenge tomorrow (see below)

day 28

actually a bit of a lazy sunday, with the exception of wasting 2 hours to get my gaming laptop up and running after windows updates. they managed to mess up the drivers on both GPUs. at times like this I really think that I should give Linux another shot. I'm just irritated by having to do 5 steps to accomplish what would normally be done in 1

as far as the weather forecast is concerned, this should be my combo for tomorrow. as a side note, i'll probably learn how to take a picture that is in focus one day, but it obviously isn't today

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Hello Awl
I am back with my catch up pics. I spent the weekend free of the interweb and did not miss it too much.
Anyway 2day 27 is something I use but others laugh at at. A bit old school , the Apple IPod mini. Works a treat and means I go  with music but can leave the phone at home.
After having been on call at all hours especially early morning hours  it is still great to leave the phone at home sometimes.
