Day 20: Tinker

This Tinker was the first Swiss Army Knife I bought for my wife. While she's mostly moved along to a Farmer X now, it served her well for a year or so camping and setting things up in our first apartment. She likes blue, so I swapped out the T&T. It might not see much carry anymore, but you never forget your first SAK. Especially since it bit her the first time she used it.

The Tinker line has grown on me recently. Ever consider sourcing some blue scales for it as well?

Two of the odder SAKs in my collection. Left is an Excelsior and right is a Pocket Pal.
:like: I feel like the blade-only SAKs with pointy 84mm frames don't get enough respect.

It's a shame these types of replacement scales aren't easy to come by.
:iagree:

Two layer GAK type.

Those scales look really nice! I have to wonder if anyone makes similar such for SAKs.

Day 20
Two-Layer Tuesday

Like G-Dizzle, I went with a black Pioneer today. Red and silver Pioneers joined in for the photo, showing three ways one can have the engraving panel: retailer's logo, plain, and personalized.

Day 21
Wood Handled Wednesday!

Wednesday is usually Wenger Wednesday for me.  I sort of forgot that I did have some woodies.  I have been trying to use as many of the daily threads as possible.  So, this is something new for me.
Knife in the photo is a L'Occitan.  Best wishes.  G

DAY 21  Wood Handle Wednesday

I wanted this Opinel to look old.  I used it in the kitchen to cut tomatoes and onions.  Then I sanded the wood and coated it with a few layers of walnut stain I had sitting around.  I topped that with a few coats of Birchwood Casey stock oil.   :D

Thanks! I assume it would be better pricing wise to for me to go with someone US based. Very neat build.

You'd be right about the pricing thing. I think I paid £115 (about $150 US)

I hadn't. Her Farmer X is blue, and she likes the scissors, so I'm not sure it's worth it for a knife that I probably use more than her. She seems to like the Alox more in general. It's fortunate that blue is one of the easier colors to get for it.

Day 21: Wenger

This Standard Issue is my favorite "Pioneer" to carry. I like the bail, and it's not as sentimental as a BYSAK or something if it does get lost or damaged. Helped assemble this little paper rack for my friend today (I had half the screws done by the time he walked over to get a screwdriver, I talked him into getting a multi last year, but it's always in his "other bag").

That's a clean looking Premier.

Day 21 : Wood Handled Wednesday

I normally do Wenger Wednesday but I'm trying to display my other knives.

Up top we have an Amazon special.  The Buckshot assisted cleaver.  Not too bad for a sub $20 knife.  Beneath that is an Opinel No 8 with some beautiful patina on the blade.  And lastly we have a Klein Tools 44033.  It's a good looking knife in my opinion and still razor sharp.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Wenger Wednesday
This is a 1996 Wenger Tradesman, it replaced my Vic Super Tinker (1st real SAK) after that knife walked away at work.
This was my EDC SAK along with an origonal MrPinchy MP until I got the Champion Plus & MultiLock MP pictured yesterday in the early 2ks.

And yes I still have the MrPinchy, I just don't have access to it right now (or anytime in the near foreseeable future) Don't ask, it's a messed up story.

Day 22
Throwback Thursday

A Wenger outside.  I looked at some of the yards belonging to people who kept on mowing during this drought.  Their grass is brown and crunchy.  I haven't mowed a lot of my yard in maybe three weeks, and some spots longer.  It hasn't grown much, but is still green.  There are some big bare spots, but mostly it is okay.  The cow pasture greened up with a flush of new growth after a little rain shower last week.  The bovines ate it to the ground, and it is brown again.  The verbesina is about four feet high, but cows won't eat the stuff.  Since that is the weed that little boys use when making kites and is the choice of 8-year-old sword fighters everywhere, at least they will likely be supplied with material next spring after the stalks dry out.  I think I will walk up and check out the spring to see if it has dried up.  If it has then the deer and other woodland critters will have to go to plan B.
Best wishes.
Gary

Seems like Grand Banana is the one who was wondering if there should be a Serrated Saturday.  More of a question than a proposal.  Then he got busy with things and had to step away from the Rotate challenge.  It never was a real thread.  Could have been, but wasn't.  Best wishes.  Gary

Id still like to do it.  If I have time this weekend I’ll start the thread.

Thursday Surge Day

It's a Surge. I am also trying a rearrangement of my accessory tools into this old camera case to slim down the Viperade front pocket organizers I've been carrying the last few years.

I'll hop on if you get it going.

Day 22: Throwback

This Champion Plus was the first knife I used for a challenge. At the time, I figured it made more sense than the Swisschamp (the pliers are a chunky layer, and how often will I need small, but not needlenose, pliers?) but I've come to the conclusion that once you get up to that size the difference between 6 and 7 or 8 layers isn't that noticeable. Still a solid carry. Helped trim some excess fabric for my friend, but no action shot.
