Still, there's scissors on knives and tools that cost a lot more that should cut but can't.

True, and with that in mind the new bladeless Companion makes a lot of sense as a second tool.

Oh, heck I luv my coffee too!  But, sure would definitely enjoy a cup of Joe at Sheri’s place on a nice sunny fall day.

But, now I am thinking with this cool 39 degree F day, why did I not get electricity to that outdoors she’d get ran.  A timer setup on a heated toilet seat sure would be more appropriate, 😳
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

I'm sure there must be someone out there who is interested in the continuing Ms. Phoenix story.  The little blue car has disappeared.  The little white car has taken its place alongside the cottage.  Parked in the little blue car space.  New tenant?  New owner?  Maybe she just traded autos with someone?  Same habits.  Car never moves.  Nobody outside.  Zero yard work, etc.  Does the new owner sleep in a coffin in the subterranean basement during the day, then fly out at night to Walmart for stuff?  I know that the undead probably don't buy a Walmart frozen deluxe pizza or rotisserie chicken, but surely they need something.  One of those little pine tree things that you hang up for air freshener, maybe?  Good for a musty coffin.  Paper towels and a bottle of Mr. Clean for messy vampiric spills.  A can of roach spray.  Surely your cape wears out eventually?  Do nosferatu wear underwear and socks?  I worry about these things.
I know Ms. Phoenix doesn't pay her bills.  A final notice was in my mailbox sometime last year demanding payment.  No, I didn't open it.  I hope the collection outfit didn't send a field man out to the cottage in the curve.  Come in and we will talk about it.  Stay for lunch.  Forever.
Best wishes.  G

Day 8

A cool morning, definitely a two mug of coffee morning!

I left my Camillus crossout in my trousers, and they are still upstairs in the hamper…

Went to the eligible tin and I pulled out a Scout Knife, an autograph edition to boot.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

It is a hunk of steel!  Definitely riding in a crossbody bag today.   Otherwise will need suspenders for the trousers.

I had to search to find who the signature on the blade was for.  Dave Canterbury.  Then I had to look him up, since I never heard of him.  Sounds like the Marbles is chunky like the Ruff Rida I am carrying.  Less hazardous can opener.  Same pretty bone handles.  Same annoying shackle.  Springs on mine are strong enough for low end automotive applications.  Good solid knife, anyway.  Best wishes.  G

I have a Rough Ryder too!   No signature on it, just the RR on the Bolster.

Same knife, different scales and tang stamp.

I took both on a walk this morning after coffee, who needs a weighted vest or 20lbs in a ruck sack. Just one in each pocket.

Blades are sharp as any Buck knife I have, cut paper kinda quietly, so far no blood.   If I pair them with my RR elephant toes, likely double my weigh in…

The RR scout knife feels heavier than something like a Huntsman.  I looked online and Knife Country says it weighs almost 4 ounces and a half.  Over a quarter of a pound.  The blades are thick and not just at the tang.
I like the looks of the Mikov that our friend Fireman has.  I particularly like the claw can opener.  The only Mikov I ever saw was a teeny one shaped like a little metal fish.  Seemed like good quality for what it was.
More happenings with Ms. Phoenix.  Might do a tell all tomorrow.  Best wishes.  G

Day 7
Never got around to posting yesterday, but here is the photo.  The Ruike S31 cutting hook cut a plastic wrap around some foam.  It was so tightly wrapped that I didn’t want to try with a knife or scissors because I was afraid of cutting the foam.  I have come to find the cutting hook more useful than I expected.

Day 8
Used the Gerber Armbar Scout to get a stick.  It worked but not nearly as well as a SAK or Boker saw.  It is really short and the angle of the teeth mean it really only cuts on pull.  Thought I’d take a comparison photo of the Boker and Gerber

I notice that as well!

Many if not all countries ban the use of corn syrup in consumer products.

But, no not the USA.

I am type II diabetic, check my fast glucose every morning to know where I am starting the day.

It is very noticeable when in MEXICO, I do indulge with COKE, and I luv orange soda, and an occasional Sprite or 7-Up.  No corn syrup.  Even eating gourmet style entries and even ice cream for desert at a resort. My morning check is 30 mg or less below my home averages.

Within 5 days back home, even watching what I consume, my numbers drift higher each day.

Natural sugar has little effect on me, but there is corn syrup in everything we consume, and it does.

So, for a treat I do buy myself sodas from the international aisle at the market.  Flavors are even richer. 🥳
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Day 8

Trimming nicotine pouch roll cellophane seems to have become a challenge staple for me.

Gary, you should gather all your Ms Phoenix stories and turn it into a short story book.  It would be real good reading.  You should publish it in late September so it sells during the month of October.

I'm a sucker for sugar cane sodas as I grew up on Mexican Cokes, and flavored sodas.  I've cut back on my sugary drinks because of my sugar but I still enjoy one from time to time.  For a time, there was a bottling plant in Dublin Texas that made Dr Pepper with Sugar Cane.  Sadly Dr Pepper corporate made them stop production.

@nate J - I'm really liking that LionSteel.

Day 8

Trained monkeys are attracted to pretty shiny things.  I am that trained monkey hence my interest in the Quirky Switch multitool.  It was an interesting idea with bad execution.  What you see below is the Quirky Switch Mk1.

Here you can see it's first issue.  The tools like to clump.  Once you get the knife out though, it does cut pretty well and seems to keep an edge.

The scissors are abysmal.  They will only cut if you apply lateral force against each of the blades.  Too much of an effort for barely any results.  It will eventually cut paper but you have to be very deliberate in your actions.

The can opener is no better.  Even when I followed the instructions I could barely make an incision towards the center of the can but that was it.  I couldn't get the bit that goes under the edge of the can to bite properly.  I'm better off using a rock to open the can.

The Quirky Switch allows for three different tool configurations.  I've reconfigured it for less tools and may carry it again in this smaller configuration but I have better SAK-A-Likes that I want to take for a spin before I try to pick up the Quirky again.  It might be pretty to look at but, that's about it in my opinion.  Don't get this unless you like pretty, shiny, weird things.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 9

I needed to haul trash and buy some groceries.  I made a point of looking up the driveway on the little hill and seeing WHO was parked in Ms. Phoenix spot.
The little white car was gone!  In its place was the little blue car.  Again.  Lots of weirdness there.  How do you pay your electric bills without a mailbox?  Maybe Ms. Phoenix pays them online.  I have never seen a light on in that place, but rarely come home in the dark to be fair.
I saw this woman's real name on the collection notice.  I have since forgotten it.  I got the Ms. Phoenix pseudonym from a package that was stuffed in my mailbox.  It took me a while to figure out that was supposed to go to the blue car person in the cottage.  I thought it might have to do with a business.  Ms. Phoenix homemade crafts, natural remedies, palm reading, maybe a hairdresser.  Evidently not.

Today I had finally stuff to do whit the Böker Plus Techtool 4:
I did cut some Candle Wick as in a few weeks the fall will arrive so people will hopefully buy stuff to make there own bee wachs candles, did work quite good, these Skizzors seems to be around the same as on an Original SAK, the Nailnick is located on the same side like on the Alox Pioneer, but unlike there its quite easy to grapp it there whitouth folding out the Can Opener (which didn't exist on this Knife by the way .. )
Also I did use the Serated Blade to open my Paket from Engelberth Strauß whit some Work Cloths I ordered: Nice Blue Work Half Boots whit an turning mechanism so I can close them one handed (I have still this issue from my E-Bike Accident a few years ago where I can bend my right leg up, so binding my shoe laces is a bit of an issue, another EDC Friendly Work Jeans .. , and an cool blue textile Belt whit an sort of buggle lock ..
I think for this sort of Packing Strap I would rather use the Skizzors, did not work that good, although the Serated Blade is quite sharp .. , im still wonder why Böker did not include an Can Opener instead..  , but I hope I don't have to open a Can in these 30 Days of the Challenge as then I would have to use my Spirit..

WIll post pictures worth of the last 4 Days this evening ...

Good Morning SAK-A-LIKES  :hatsoff:

DAY 9

Picking up a cup of advertising ink pens on my desk, I found a cute little CLASSIC imposter laying innocently.

I am 99.9% certain this was part of a Plier Multitool package I acquired for a few dollars at Menards to obtain the rubber sheath packed with  driver1/4” bits😉

The Multitool is in my truck’s center console, it is functional as well.

Pictured with my Camillus Crossout Scout😃

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Used the flat tip of cap lifter to help extract the file, then noticed, it too has a liner lock tap to secure this tool when deployed.  This CAMILLUS keeps delivering with simplicity 😎

PS:  The scissors on this little knife, work quite well, cut through double thickness of envelope paper and trimmed the end of a paracord before melting that end.
A pretty impressive kit that I likely paid $5 or $6 for plus a 11% rebate…
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Nice work accessing the sweet goodness of your SKIPPY PEANUTBUTTER.

This may seem strange, but my household was fussy about PEANUTBUTTER.  Kids preferred JIFF over Skippy.

Kroger had a sale on PEANUTBUTTER, and wife purchased a few cases to donate to the church food bank.  I making a funny, you buy JIFF to feed your kids and yet give store brand to other people!

Well a few days later at breakfast, two of the children had peanutbutter toast, both said at the same time, “new PEANUTBUTTER???   It is way better flavor than the other stuff, but again!”

She smiled and stuck in my face, a KROGER PEANUTBUTTER JAR!!!

We then upgraded, and just a few weeks ago when on sale again I tried the Honey version by Kroger brands. :woohoo:   $1/jar good value.
