I would like to know more about this one. To be a little more specific: How can I get my paws on one like this?

All I know is:

a) I like it  :D :D :D
b) I got it from Felinevet  :tu:

Other than that I have no idea

Now that I'm looking at it much closer it appears to have a serrated master blade from a Wenger knife. And--judging by the fluted corkscrew, the screw in the scissors and mix of parts--I'll venture a guess that this is not a "factory custom" but rather a knife that was built from spare bits and pieces. Nonetheless, I love the tools on it and would love to have a similar build. Kool knife! Thanks for your response!

Well I bought it as a factory custom "ranger variation" anyway (not my declaration). How would I know for sure? Pop the scales off presumably? Not that it matters much to me anyway, it'll be a user not a collector piece or investment

Forgive me if I sounded critical. I didn't intend to. Initially I had only glanced at it and saw that it had all of the tools that I personally wanted on a knife, and none I didn't want. Without looking closer I just thought that this really was something that was custom made by Victorinox. That was my mistake. It is an awesome knife!

No problem :tu: I'd also like to know a little more about how it came about, but it still wouldn't stop me putting it in my pocket and using it  :D I'm thinking this could be a good one for the garden

Cheers Chrissy, it looked far too bonkers for me to leave it for someone else

I'm wondering how I'd fare with just those blades though, so I'll probably carry it for a while with a knifeless plier tool (Kick or MP400) so I've got to use the blades on it. Actually, the knifeless Kick seems a perfect companion as it's got the bit drivers but no saw or file

Well that's my carry decided for the next week or so  :D :D :D

Yes, no straight blade would probably be a shortcoming for me personally.

However, I'm a huge fan of the pruner blade :tu:

Amici,
Well I gave into temptation after all the fun I've been having with my Wenger S557 evowood, and decided to pick up a new Swisschamp but with rosewood scales. This should be arriving shortly, and I hope it will compliment the evowood in the looks department.

Cheers,
Serge

That's exactly what it is. It's not a factory custom, as this was a standard model for about 20 years. And it's not a frankenstein model build out of spare parts. It's simply a late 1970s Victorinox Outdoorsman model. Excellent, excellent model - one of my favorites. Nice get.

Well, you can butter my butt and call me a biscuit! Duh! Indeed, it is a vintage Original Outdoorsman and I already own one! Double duh! I guess I was so blinded by the label "Factory Custom" that I couldn't even recognize a knife I already owned. Well, that would at least explain why I liked it and wanted one like it. I apologize for any inconvenience my stupidity may have caused. Here's a quick snap of mine with only a couple of the blades opened...

I will now schlep off to a quiet corner of the room and contemplate the virtue of silence

Nice. :)  The Rex Classic (of Golfing) had a series of Caddies in different colors; I don't know if it's related to Rex Corp, though.

Figured my Vic options were missing a Cybertool, and I've not had chance to sample that bit driver yet - so another late night drunken internet purchase has put that right.

I just can't decide if the right smiley right now is this  :tu:, this :drink:, this  :ahhh, or this
