I think now is a goot time to make a tribute to Wenger, so I'm going to put some Wenger images at higher priority than some Vic ones for a while.

Iron Grip sounds like a name for an Autobot. 8)  Also looks fantastic as a multitool though. :D

I managed to sneak away earlier and get out all my wengers.
The good news is there's room for more :D

It struck me just how radical wenger is when compared to victorinox. Much is often said about the soft back spring on wengers as opposed to vic's. But lets not beat about the bush here, Vic's as nice as they are are pretty bland when compared to some of the outrageous themed  SAK's that have been offered by wenger...Rollerskating Tool !! Personally I think the FF on wengers is also higher than vics.

As for the Rangergrips?? - I think they're stunning, further more I don't think the idea has being exhausted, not by a long way. I'd like to have seen the plier based ranger grip offered as a blunt nose variant  with maybe an inline philips driver, or maybe containing scissors too (not the garden version).

It's just occured to me now how radical wenger would have become had it teamed up with say the likes of CRKT...Jeez!! can you imagine some of the concepts that would be unleashed - I actually can't. But it would have been great to have seen it.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Wow, Wenger has some pretty cool looking SAKs :tu:  Don't have any Wengers as I hadn't gotten around to this brand yet, but had planned on it at some point.  Sadly, it may be too late by the time I can afford to get any :(

some time ago i used the saw to cut a small board along the drawn line,. Everybody know
it can cut big planks, branches and more, must say it was very easy with the Ranger saw,.
I would love if Wenger could follow its own line and be more independent again, but i guess the Ranger saw will live on :)

Sorry for the confusion, the image file-name was incorrect, this model is a Commander like the other Jorg Hysek editions.  I think putting 'Traveler' in the file name was wishful thinking on my part.

No doubt...  it should have been a Traveler

... This was one mistake Wenger made.  But luckily I don't mind carrying more than one pocket tool ... and frankly Victorinox scissors just work better for me on 98% of tasks.

I think i´m a bit OT here, but the question is too little to get it´s own thread.

I have a black scaled 85 mm Wenger with the toolset of the "Forester", i.e opener layer, saw, scissors, blade layer, corkscrew and awl on the back -  except that it has no nailfile but a small clip point blade beside the standard big one. What model is this? (Basically it´s equipped like a vic Huntsman)

I´ll add some pics soon, i promise.

It has neither tweezer nor corkscrew and has teh older standard scales, teh printed Logo is just white, not white/red.

Sounds like a European variant of the Forester. Possible model number is 1 17 13. Wenger at one time time offered a 'Basic' series in Europe, most of which were without t&t. The all-white printed logo was also used on some of the 'Basics' and other low-end models. All the ones I have or have pictures of are red or translucent, so your black version is a bit unusual. Nice find.  :tu:

Thank you for the information on the knife!

I have done a quick cleaning of the old, hardened oil and pocket lint and will do some pics as soon as time (or my Girl...) allows.

I must say - although this comes quite late, given Wengers fate - that i find the 85 mm less obstrusive for pocket carry, even with 3 or 4 layers than a 91 vic.

If it wasn`t for the small screwdriver, I´d exchange my Spartan for a Wenger.

Nice Camo Wenger Teton.  The grey coating on the tools, can't remember what it's called, is nice and great to have on the scissors.

(Image removed from quote.)

An interesting point about the camouflage Wengers is that the American versions had matte blades, while the European versions had bright polished blades. I'm not a big fan of camo knives (too easy to lose), but if you're going to have one you probably should have the blade also camouflaged.

:tu: on the Champ, also sold as Classic 28.  A trio of nice finds.
