Day 18

Outrider opened delivery from the postie - new Spirit XC :like:

I’m supposed to be cutting down on my SAK and MT purchases (yeah, yeah, you’ve heard it before I know) but this was A$100 as opposed to A$155 on Amazon the cheapest I’ve seen it so couldn’t resist

Doesn’t explain the red OC Pioneer I won on eBay yesterday

(Image removed from quote.)

I'm recently guilty of that.

This month, I had two (big) purchases of diecast models that I knew this month, the guys I bought them from would be sending me my totals. I said I would buy NOTHING until I had paid those two totals. I first bought more diecast. And then, I bought an A. Wright Lambsfoot because I'd put buying it off a year; and then I found an OC Farmer in well-used, but not beat condition for $35. I thought it over and then said "I ain't gonna find another one at this price" and bought it.  And, I just paid one $55 total day before yesterday, and the second guy hasn't sent me his yet; and I figure his will be more than that.

Let me get some better pictures, and put up a few for the reference.

It's interesting to see the different philosophy between different brands or tools, for SAK, I have always believe it is meant to only solve 80% of all my daily tool needs.  Though it is really convenient, it is never meant to replace the larger size tool for efficiency and ease of use.

That’d be great comis :tu: :like:

It's surprising how little one actually uses the large blade in city life, isn't it? That's one of the reasons why the GAK just didn't work for me in last year's challenge - I didn't need the large blade and the saw, but the GAK didn't provide much more than that.

The most used functions indoors are: Screwdrivers, scissors, pliers, cap lifter. The main blade isn't as important as the bit driver. And on the XLT there's a strong preference for the pruning blade.

Same here, plus the small blade (or awl if no small blade is available). I guess you should look into getting a Hercules  ;)

Here are 4 pictures of the slide lock mechanism for anyone who has wondered what it looks like. They were taken by enki_ck in 2013 and they were posted in this thread
