I see you pulled the trigger  :D

How do you like it [Land 912]?

Well, I definitely bought the knife after seeing your variant.   :salute:  I've always been a fan of Chinese knives in the Sanrenmu/Ganzo genre, as you get a lot of knife for the money.  I don't know anything about "Land", though it may very well come out of the same factory as the others.  This Land 912  is remarkably well-done in terms of fit and finish.  The action is very smooth, and it just has a quality feel that belies its $22 price.

I own a few Chris Reeve knives, including a couple of Sebenzas.  The Land 912, which is clearly an homage to (ripoff of) the Sebenza, has about 95% of the fit, finish and feel of the Sebenza at 5% of the cost.  Of course you are getting 12C27 blade steel and not S35VN, along with steel scales in place of the Sebenza's titanium.  I have not yet put it through its paces, but it arrived razor sharp and the quality build makes me expect it to be a winner.

Sebenza Classic 2000, bottom, with Land 912.

I posted about it when I got it a few years back, so that might very well have been my post you remember. If not, I’d love to see more posts about this particular knife.

That's pretty high praise comparing to the Sebenza. I have found mine to hold it's edge remarkably well. I've only sharpened it once since I got it.

I sometimes wonder about this--I understand CRK is a "luxury" knife(I guess depending who I talk to), and I often wonder whether it's value will stand the test of time.  A decades or two ago, when competition is less fierce and CRK being one of the few brands that has great tolerance, will no doubt receive the attention it should get and ask for a high premium for the price.  But as PN points out, just this LAND knife has 95% of the fit while only 5% of the cost, I can't help but to wonder whether there is much reason to buy the luxury, when the there are so many viable options out there.

Day 20: My humble collection of Leatherman Squirts.
Left to right: Squirt PS4, Squirt 4, and two Squirt S4.
My favorite is the PS4 as it has pliers and scissors, although the scissors are no match for the ones on the S4.

Day 20 (Happy Spring Solstice!):

This is a fabulous folder from AG Russel, but a Bob Dozier design. No surprises, the 3.75" blade is made from D2. I love the long clip shape. The thumb stud is small--and fairly out of the way--but functional. It came with a pocket clip which has since been removed. The hollow grind makes for a sharp slicer with the kind of toothy edge you'd can expect with D2.

A few small details really make this knife for me: a small hint of an integral guard one the edge side of the blade, and a subtle, but very nice thumb ramp on the spine side of the blade. The mini-guard is nice as an indexing point--it's too small to be an actual guard. The thumb ramp provides excellent traction and confidence when applying some pressure to a cut.

The scales are a rough and grippy G-10 with steel liners. The liner lock is well protected, but can still be operated with one hand (right handed).

To my mind, Bob Dozier created a thoughtful and updated version of a Buck 110. The two knives are similar in size. The Dozier is a heavy knife, but is still just 67% of the weight of an average 110. I got this one several years ago and I'm not sure if this model is still made. I hope so, this is a knife worth having.   :tu:

I checked the AG Russell website; I did not see this offered for sale. If I had to guess, it was probably sold as a 'Dozier Folding Hunter'. (A lot like the Buck 110 "Folding Hunter".  ;))

Day 20
I've always had a soft spot for hollow handle knives, specifically the Chris Reeve 1-piece knives.
I'm from the same area of SA as Chris Reeve,I met his father at knife shows a few times.
I've had 3 of those, all made in SA,a Jereboam (gift from my father which was passed on to my son),a dagger which I sold, and a saw back Jereboam.
This knife is an aviator style knife with a flat ground blade, made by a guy I used to train with.

You're a pessimist.....it's still Spring here for another few hours. The June Solstice marks the end of Spring and beginning of Summer. So, for me it's the Spring Solstice. For those of you lost in the annals of Druidic England....call it midsummer.

Actually, for a Scot I'm quite optimistic... no wait, that's the wrong way round... pessimistic. I'm quite pessimistic.
