Day 16

Some great posts yesterday, loved reading about all your sentimental attachments to tools and the stories behind them.

Today, I’ve been carrying a serrated  Spyderench and a Micra.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I really wanted a Spyderench, and thanks to a very kind tip off here on MTO, I was able to buy two in two days earlier this year.

Unfortunately, it’s not the most practical tool for my needs. It’s a pain to get the driver bits out and the pliers are not great.

The main thing I’m learning from a challenge where I can choose anything is how well the Free P2 and P4 cover most of my day to day needs.

I just use the browser on my iPhone and upload the photos directly from there.

You know we can see your Day 15 photo though, right?

Day 16
Old Wenger and a Dremel multi-tool.  The SAK key ring nub dug into my hand every time I picked it up.  Finally, I had enough of that and performed a nubectomy with an emery cutoff wheel.  Best wishes.  G

Day 8 Make-up

Gary - You mentioned enjoying seeing posts with fishing equipment.  This is the closest I can come to fishing related equipment.   We used to live on a stocked lake.  Wife would be catching fish and I wouldn't.  We would switch poles, and she would continue to catch.  Me nothing.

I use this “Cuban Yo-Yo” reel to carry some paracord.   Very convenient.

Day 16 Post

I have no recollection when I got this tool.  It has the name Maxam on it.  We are in the middle of an extreme heat warning and I was rummaging in a drawer looking for a wall wart for my Makita fan (in lieu of using the battery) to help move some air assisting the AC and this tool surfaced.
The bail on the end hooks over the plier handle to keep the tool closed.

Hello everyone!  I've been picked to hold the Day 20 Mini Challenge.   After so many funny challenges during this one, I wanted something different; therefore, I've decided on the Favorite Coffee/Tea Cup Mini Challenge!  Post a pic of your favorite cup, tumbler, etc. on Day 20.  It doesn't have to be fancy, just the one you typically go to for that boost of energy!
Barry

Tea/coffee cup challenge for July 20.  Sounds like fun to me.  I think most of the caffein junkies can do this one.  I think I will put a SAK or some kind of multi-tool in the photo with mine.  Thanks, Barry.
Best wishes.  G

Good to see a nice yoyo spoon reel.  Very handy to use in a boat.  I remembered the brand Maxam when I saw your plier multi.  I had a particularly ugly Japanese made Maxam fixed blade many years ago.  Wood finger grip handle with a blade choil.  Dad bought the monstrosity at a flea market.  I don't remember who I sold the thing to, but it was a happy day.  Lots of them for sale on flea bay.  Look for Maxam Japanese hunting knife.  I just looked.  And shuddered a little.  Brrrr.  Best wishes.  G

Day8: just got this Fox Zero 2.0 (Becut blade, FRN handle) and it is a really nice small folder (3 fingers handle) with a large belly blade allowing for a very fine edge : extremely slicy out of the box.

Day 16

Been really busy for the past week or two, though I have gotten the badge in the past, I will try my best to participate whenever I could.

Today I am lugging this crazy portable fan around, it uses 3 lipo cells as power source, and it felt like a helicopter is landing right beside me when I turn it up 100%...

Day 16

My daily hip / shoulder bag, with BOND that is assigned to large pocket. The SAK is a pocket carry 😉

Mostly the BOND sees action retrieving CC from gas pump reader adjusted to tight as my fingers just slip off. Today my Mats handle many fine dexterity functions since my fingers slip.  Crush water bottles when opening🤪 and can not pick a penny from the table top 😳

Ol' Grumpy is feeling lazy today and decided that instead of laying out some gear I thought I'd go over some old photos on my phone...

I know that an Alaskan mini ulu has already been posted i thought I'd show one of mine.

There is too much good stuff, and I'm feeling a little lazy, so no individual acknowledgements from me today. But y'awl are doing great. I love the old military stuff and the Matchbox Land Rover! :2tu: The coffee challenge won't be a problem for me, as I typically drink a pot a day.

Day 16

My tastes in SAKs have flip-flopped in the past three years or so. But one thing will remain constant: I'm unlikely to buy a 58mm that doesn't have the combo tool.

Today we'll take a look at Tatty Rally. If awl goes well, it'll be going off for a new blade before I celebrate my birthday. (It wouldn't even cut paper when I got it, and my efforts to sharpen the blade did not go well.)

It lives in this little Victorinox slip. The slip previously held Mrs. FX's "purse SAKs," but those are now forever safe queens.

Day 15
Girl Scout Knife Collection

This is just part of my Girl Scout Knife collection, but the oldest and most meaningful part.

The are in approximate oldest to newest order going from left to right, however the far right one is the one  that I was first given and only one pictured that is not older than me.

The far right was  my first knife given to me by my Dad when I was 8 right after my first session of Girl Scout camp.  Girl Scouts played a big role in growing up, which is why the collection.

Another thing that makes these special is that other than the oldest  knife which is an Ulster. all of the knives were made by Utica Kutmaster, very close to where I grew up.

I also have this forum to thank for this collection being what it is.  After  my love of Girl Scout knives, Steve would let me know when he would spot a nice one for sale,. Which led to a few of these additions.   The most recent addition was a gift from Aloha, who saw the featherweight (3rd from left) knife at a flea market and sent it as a gift.  [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]    [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]    [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

That's correct  :tu:

I am mainly seeing what works, I use tools a lot....just finished a security door for the home, minus the sheet metal front and paint.

As for scapels, I used to be a shepherd on the family farm, and then a university lecturer, so I have a lot of experience using very sharp blades.....going to do a guest lecture soon in pests, parasites, and pathogens....I might use the surge with the scapels t shank for fun  :woohoo:
