Although still young (I hope  :dunno:), I have had the experience to meet some wonderful and generous people and this forum just repeats my observations.  @IMR4198 and @LoopCutter made me feel very welcome.

I have also witnessed generous actions, particularly @FolderBeholder , that gives me faith in the world

In my job I see and deal with polluters and development, damaging the environment....I am on the environmental side fighting an all to often losing battle to progress (that doesn't have a future).....so any and all acts of kindness is celebrated   :woohoo:

Anyway.....

DAY 7

Sticking with food prep....(the weekend should see more bushcraft stuff), celeriac gratin with green lentils, and rocket from the vegetable beds.

For those that don't know what a celeriac looks like, here you go.... picture from my classic challenge....and yes I prepared celeriac with a classic

I figured my interaction with the Opinel Challenge was at an end.  Except for reading the posts and looking at the pix.  Wrong.
In my beaten and dented mailbox today was a pretty white padded package.  Somehow friends, FolderBeholder had figured out a way to get her gift sent by mail instead of having a delivery truck stuck in my driveway.  A very light package actually.
How did she do it?  I suspect magic, but women do have their ways.  Here it is.
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
Don't it pretty?  It even smells nice out of the package.  Sort of woodsy.  I have been lucky this week.  First a very minor windfall.  Then yesterday, I escaped without a scratch from a near head-on collision with a very reckless driver.  I wound up stopped off the road but was able to pull away.  Driver went off without stopping to see about damage.  Thanks again.  I like the folder.  Best wishes. You have to join in on the challenge now buddy :-)

You know it was delicious but I smurfed it and doubled the rice on accident.  :twak: It was quite a thick soup. But good none the less, some ginger and seaweed gave it an extra kick.

Day 7

Used the Oak no. 8 to free my latest OPINEL. I got the Le Savoyard version for the daily carry rotation. It got the beech handle with mountain printing with shield and a red leather lanyard. So my daily rotation of Opinels has grown to three.

Seeing all the cooking and food prep this morning is making me so hungry. Truly am enjoying seeing what you all are making.

Please describe your FRENCH beverage and its taste qualities. Having been deprived of food the past couple days, I am starving for food describing words
Hmm, I’d say some apple and possibly cinamon on the nose, typical Calvados roughness around the edges with something akin to leather/chamois at the end.

NB! Not a big cognac/brandy person. Make mine single malt, bourbon or grappa (with a soft soft for calvados) so more experienced cognac/brandy/calvados drinker might think I totally missed the boat

Also: speedy recovery LC!

Day 7

Apparently some people still have to use a separate knife and screwdriver... This was at the bathroom of the brewpub we were at tonight.

Day 8

Between the 7,8,&9 I just don’t think I can choose a preferred size. I have been carrying 2 at a time. I took to modding my 7 in the past couple of days. I went for an aesthetic patina with some tangerines and it ended up okay.
